Is pepperoni pizza safe to eat?

Just ate a pepperoni pizza from Sainsbury’s and realised that pepperoni was on the list of foods to avoid... but i’m guessing it should be ok if the pizza was cooked for 10mins at 200 degrees?Hmm

Cold cured meats such as pepperoni, Parma ham etc are safe to eat in pregnancy. So perfectly fine cooked on a pizza!

Get yourself a copy of 'Expecting Better' by Emily Oster.

Really good for managing pregnancy anxiety.

I thought that they always said cured meats were unsafe unless cooked?

They aren't 'unsafe' but there is a higher risk of toxoplasmosis because they haven't been cooked - this relates to things like salami and Parma ham.

You can either cook them or freeze them to kill any parasites if you are worried.

Things like packaged sliced ham etc are fine to eat as they are.

As long as you cooked them you are fine, I tended to cook things an extra 5 mins in case and then just relaxed.
