Going for my first scan Thursday and was wondering if it's just a full stomach or bladder or both that you need. The appointment is 10am and says to drink a pint of water an hour before. Can I go to the toilet when I wake up or am I best holding it till after the scan

its a full bladder you need. go the loo if you need to, you wont be able to hold it in if you are desperate, but get there a bit early and take a bottle of water with you to drink while you wait to go in.

Go to the toilet when you wake up and drink something afterwards. A full stomach doesn’t matter. X

I've got quite a weak bladder so for a 9.30 scan I got up and drank and pee'd as usual then at 9am just started drinking a bottle of water, my bladder was full in that time but I wasn't bursting !

Yes it's a full bladder you need

Yeah, drink a pint of water/whatever one hour before the scan is the general rule of thumb. Good luck!

Thanks all. Even with being pregnant I am quite good at holding it, mainly due to the fact I'm so busy at work it can be hours before I get the chance to go to the toilet. I will go when I get up and then drink loads

Go loo as and when but make sure you don't go for around 1-2 hours before your scan. Use that time to drink a litre of water.
My 12 week scan was at 1pm so I had my last wee at 11:30am and then just slowing drank around 1.5 litres in sips every few mins until I was called in
