I found out I was pregnant 4 days ago and went to the doctors on the same day where they gave me the flu jab and just told me a little bit about what to avoid, what to take etc. They said the midwife will contact me to book an appointment but didn't say when that would be, does anyone know?
When do you usually have your first midwife appointment?
I'm 4 weeks today

10-12 weeks. So I wouldn't be worrying for many weeks yet.

First appointment is usually your booking in appointment around 10-12 weeks

Lemonicelolly1 · 17/12/2017 09:59

I think it depends on your local practise/ how busy the midwives are but I had my booking appointment at 8 weeks Smile

Mine was 8 weeks for booking in (at my house). Then got a letter through for the scan which was at about 12 weeks.

I think it's usually around 8 weeks? Possibly. Because I think the midwife refers you for a scan, and that has to be at 12 weeks. I had a booking in appointment at 8 weeks, and they were apologetic that there was nothing sooner.

I think mine was about 8 weeks.

My midwife didn't contact me until I was 10 weeks, came to my house for the booking in appiontment the next week and I got the letter for my scan that week also.

mustbemad17 · 17/12/2017 10:04

Between 8-12 weeks here & then your scan is between 12-14 weeks. It's such a buzz kill when you find out early & everything seems to stop!

I’m in London and I know here the aim is to have a booking appointment by 8 weeks
Both my pregnancies I skipped the GP (no point) and self referred to midwifery; booking was at 8 weeks both time and scans were at 12 weeks with the first and shortly after 11 weeks with the second

Here we contact the midwives and book ourselves in, but it's different in every area (I've never seen the GP). I called about 5 weeks each time and my appts have always been between 7 and 9 weeks. This time it was 8 weeks exactly.
