IVF and zika risk

My husband and I went to a moderate zika risk area in August but as we have been called up for our initial IVF consulation we are naturally worried our treatment will be delayed. Time isnt on my side and have read a lot about zika. We have shown no symptoms of zika and have taken as much precaution as we could to prevent being bitten. Has anyone been in a similar position and what was the outcome?

There is a test to see if your DH has antibodies; no antibodies means it can't be in his sperm now.

Speak to your specialist. Mine won’t do it for 6 months if antibodies are found in the man’s blood.

How come you went to a Zika area when you were waiting for IVF treatment?

Persiancatlady we booked the holiday months and months in advance of even knowing we needed to go down the ivf route.

I see.

In that case I would ask for DH to be tested like a PP mentioned.

We had to sign something to say we hadn't been anywhere with a zika risk in the 6 months before if using own sperm (it's less time for women). But this was when our treatment actually began not at initial consultation. It's unlikely that you will get to treatment within the next two months. It was about 4/5 months after our first consultation that I started stimming.

Good luck with it all!

I'm slightly worried too as we are waiting for a date for IVF with PGD which is now likely to be after May, we go to Florida in May. Although, looking at it all Florida doesn't seem to be a risk anymore. But I'm worried what the consultant will say at our next appointment and if we would be made to wait. I didn't realise they would do a test?
