39+6 with my second. My first gave us a big surprise by turning up at 35+5. I thought this one would be early too, although very happy to have made it to term. I've been losing chunks of plug for weeks, he's not engaged and I just feel like things could continue like this indefinitely. I think he's just going to stay there until forcibly removed :( They wouldn't induce until 29th December. I had a growth scan about a month ago and they predicted he'd be 9lbs at 40 weeks, so I imagine 10lbs at 42? I just want to drink loads of Christmas drinks and to be able to move around normally again :( I'm going to end up uncomfortable all Christmas then induction and trying to force an elephant child out.
Whinge whinge moan moan.

oh bless you. im almost there at 39w. dc1 was late and i suspect dc2 will be. i declined first sweep offer as too close to xmas weekend. i dont want to go into labour xmas day so expected a sweep after xmas when im almost a week over due.

i keep thinking how will this one all start off.

blondielocks29 · 16/12/2017 15:49

I'm 41+ weeks now....feel like it's never going to end!
I've had 5 (yup...5!) unsuccessful sweeps 👎🏻 cervix isn't open in the slightest 😫

Booked for induction on Wednesday so at least I'll definitely have the baby by Christmas Day!
Every little twinge I think 'is this it?'...but it never is 😠

Itsjustaphase84 · 16/12/2017 17:52

omg 5??? the maximum my mw will offer are 2!!! and as i declined one i think thats all ill get. it took 3 with dc1. im very achey but have been on and off last few weeks with some unusual discharge yesterday. probably bit of plug but i suspected infection which im awaiting results for. keep us posted if you can.
x

Itsjustaphase84 · 16/12/2017 17:53

im sure i remember you both from ttc boards too!?!

Rogue1234 · 16/12/2017 18:30

You have my sympathy! I'm due tomorrow but was hoping baby would be early as I'm not having a good pregnancy at all.
I've had 4 sweeps now that haven't done anything, I've been losing my plug for 2 weeks and had 3 shows.

I would have loved to have had the baby before Christmas but it really feels like it's never going to happen and I'm going to be pregnant forever!

Oysterbabe · 16/12/2017 19:34

Glad I'm not the only one, misery loves company. They've offered me a sweep Monday and I'll probably go for it, I bet they can't do it though and my cervix is nowhere to be seen.

I'm 38 weeks and baby is not engaged.

Didn't help that I read in my pregnancy book that "a deeply engaged baby is usually the sign of an fast and complication free labour." - not me then. Hmm

I also fear mine having to be issued it's eviction notice via and induction and me giving birth to a baby elephant. I had a grown scan at 36+4 and he was 6lbs 2oz then Shock

I feel ya!

blondielocks29 · 16/12/2017 21:21

Midwife did say this morning that the baby was deep in my pelvis so I'm hoping lots of bouncing on my birthing ball will help move things along!

Had a growth scan last week and it estimated baby at 8lb4oz....so really want to give this one its marching orders sharpish!

Oysterbabe · 17/12/2017 08:17

Well it's my due date and also my birthday. My husband asked what I want to do today. I want him to take the toddler out and leave me alone to wallow and sulk about being pregnant not being able to drink gin.

Happy birthday OP. Still time for it to be a birthday for two.

MaverickSnoopy · 17/12/2017 09:02

I feel your pain. Not currently pregnant but I went massively overdue with both of mine. I was MISERABLE.

On a practical note re Christmas drinks....sainsburys do a really good non alcohol sparkling wine (honestly it was the best I found) and I used to drink tonic with lemon and it felt like g&t. If you like cider then kopperberg do some non alcoholic. I also remember having lots of mulled apple at Christmas and also ginger beer. Completely not the same of course....but realistically it can't be much longer.

Nousername2015 · 17/12/2017 12:15

I'm with you OP. 39+6 with number 2 today, first arrived at 38 weeks. Totally miserable and fed up! I believed everyone when they said that second babies also come early.
Happy birthday, hope you manage to enjoy some of the day!

Oysterbabe · 18/12/2017 11:36

Just seen the midwife. Baby is still not engaged at all. Induction is booked for 29th Sad

Toasttea · 18/12/2017 12:40

Hope baby engages before then for you. I'm Due in 5 days, I've lost some of my mucus plug, thought my waters went on Friday morning but nothing's been happening. I have the midwife this afternoon so hoping baby is further engaged

NoAngel1 · 18/12/2017 13:40

I'm 40 weeks today and fed up. No signs really. Get some B hicks that keep fooling me. Really want baby here before Christmas! Any of you progressed at all? xx

Nousername2015 · 18/12/2017 14:08

Not a jot. A few Braxton Hicks but absolutely naff all apart from that! My midwife has already booked me in for induction on the 28th, I take it she's not feeling too positive either!

Nousername2015 · 18/12/2017 14:10

oyster If it's any consolation lots of people have told me that second or subsequent babies can engage as you go into labour so fingers crossed. These are also the same people who told me second babies come earlier though...

SprogletsMum · 18/12/2017 14:13

I put myself into labour with dc4 by playing with an ankle hopper. Clearly I had a brain dead moment because it's obviously not a good idea. Ended up needing the drip to kick start contractions because nothing was happening after my waters went. Got him out though! Blush

Itsjustaphase84 · 18/12/2017 15:05

yes my mw keeps telling me 2nd babies dont engage until labour. im so exhausted and stuck dc in front of a cartoon for a little bit whilst i stay still on sofa. keep feeling nauseous.

i think i've had the odd bit of mucus plug but i nothing else really. 39+3 now.

Oysterbabe · 20/12/2017 23:51

I think my waters have just started leaking. Having a few mild cramps 🤞

Exciting and yay, finally!! On a selfish note you're giving me hope, I've well and truly lost the will. I have had tightenings all night due to walking a lot yesterday but it's not developed into anything so my plan is to walk again today.
Good luck!!

Oysterbabe · 21/12/2017 06:32

Thank you!
Baby arrived at 4:11 this morning. We cut it quite fine getting to the hospital.
