20 wk scan - have to go back

I had my 20 wk scan this week and the sonographer said everything looks fine but the baby was too small at 19 weeks to see the heart and spine properly so I have to go back in 2 weeks to have another look. Initially I thought fine I'm still only 19 weeks but now I'm freaking out a little and should have asked whether he is measuring ok for 19 weeks or where she meant that he was measuring too small....

I had exactly the same, don’t worry. Mine also was due to the position the baby was lying in and she couldn’t get a clear image of the heart. Baby had decided to curl into a ball. The sonographer said this was completely normal.
I understand why you would worry but there is no need-just think you get to see your baby again in 2 weeks when most other mums wouldn’t xx

That sounds normal to me. 19 weeks is early for what they want to see, especially if baby is lying funny or way down in your pelvis. With my first, I had to have 3 scans for them to get a look at everything and with this one I had to have 2. The anomaly scan is very detailed, so they have a lot to look and it's pretty typical to not see it all in one go.

Please dont worry. If she was concerned she would have referred you to the consultant.

I have has lots of scans and they said she was too small, sent for an emergency scan the next day but all I fine, if they where that worried they wouldn't make u weigh 2weeks

It's perfectly normal for this to happen. I had it happen this time and had to go back again. Turns out this baby is a monkey and they still couldn't see everything the second time but policy is not to scan a third time. They've since seen everything at growth scans.

I had scans of my twins every 4 weeks, then every 2 towards the end, then twice weekly! I had to go and see a specialist around 20wks as twin 2 was quite little - they were born at 36 weeks, smallest one was 4lbs7oz and bigger one was 5lbs12oz - neither needed any special care and I went home within 3 days. Don't worry x

Totally normal. Ive been scanned 4 times this month due to complications amd at each scan baby has been too small to see everything or position been wrong or bubs hands in the way! I go back on the 27th to hopefully complete the anomaly scan. I will be 21 weeks then
