Chicken Pox exposure

I know it’s bad to catch chicken pox while you are pregnant but is it OK to be exposed to it if you have already had it yourself? I’m assuming so but someone said something which has worried me. I’m only first trimester so no one knows I’m pregnant yet!

Speak to Your midwife about being exposed to chicken pox. Mine offered a blood test to double check immunity.

As a general rule, if you've already had it, you're fine.

If you've already had it, yes, you almost certainly have immunity and you should be fine being exposed to someone who has it. There is always a chance that you could have lost immunity over the years (this is one of the risks of the jab, it doesn't last forever, but having a previous infection is almost always pretty full-proof). So if you can avoid someone who has it, I probably still would (like wouldn't go see a friend whose child was sick), but if you've already been exposed, I wouldn't stress about it.

Thank you!

DD had it in the summer so I’m guessing my immunity would have been “topped up” then. I haven’t been exposed yet but have a situation where it is going to be awkward to avoid it!
