This seems really far fetched but it's 2:53am I can't sleep and I'm 10 weeks pregnant. Me and my partner haven't been together for very long at all, we were friends for 7 years before he finally asked me out! Anyway, when I count back 10 weeks from today it works out to about the day of my last period, I had an early scan at 8 Weeks which confirmed that I was definitly 8 weeks. Me and my boyfriend got together on the 29th September and my period was 6/7th October. 10 Weeks today dates back to my first day of my last period.
I was expecting to only be around 6/7 weeks when I went for an early scan but I was told I was definitly 8 weeks. How can this be if I had my period on the date I apparently conceived? Or am I being paranoid and it's just a estimate date? Late night thinking!

Pregnancy is always counted from the first day of your last period so you are two weeks more pregnant than the date you conceived on.

Nina is right OP. Pregnancy is dated from date of period not when you had sex or conceived. Always add 2 weeks (ish) onto when you think it happened.

Thank you for replying! So when I went for my early scan and they said 8 weeks, which like I said dated back to my last period.. It's just so confusing!

It is confusing at first but the others are right. Your pregnancy it's always dates from the first day of your last period so if you conceived 6/7 weeks ago it's right that you'd be about 8 weeks as they count it.

It is confusing at first and they don't really explain it

It is confusing at first and they don't really explain it. If you'd have worked it out yourself (although scans seem to be more accurate given the measurements they take), you may have even been more than that.

They explained this to me in school. In first year secondary. In the 80s.

Simple biology op
who else have you slept with within that period where you can conceive?

ZigZagandDustin · 15/12/2017 05:02

You made your baby around the 20th of October. That is when the sperm met the egg. Does that make more sense now?

MommaBee97 · 15/12/2017 10:01

It makes sense because obviously I had a period around the 6/7th... and the last person I slept with was the beginning of September, but it was safe sex so it can only be my current partner. It's just because we basically conceived so early into the relationship!

You know you can have small bleeds whilst pregnant OP?
Sometimes called implantation bleeding at the beginning of a pregnancy?

MommaBee97 · 15/12/2017 18:36

I had a proper period on the 7th October and then it was the 6th November I found out I was pregnant and the digital came back as 1-2 weeks. I haven't had any bleeding or spotting since finding out. I think I need to stop panicking because I'm making myself poorly.. :( I just need reassurance

I think it’s your partners, it makes no sense for it to be the other person a month before you conceived! Sperm doesn’t hang around for a month! Flowers

MommaBee97 · 15/12/2017 19:57

That's what I think! And when I had sex with the other guy from what I remember the last time we didn't actually 'finish' and then I told him I didn't want to see him anymore Confused.. the first time me and my partner had sex was the 4th October, then I came on my period a few days after... then obviously a month afterwards found out I was pregnant! I believe it's my partners I can't imagine it being anybody else's it doesn't even seem remotely possible! Thank you everybody for your opinions

I AM OVER THE MOON! So relieved. I have just discovered a 'date of conception' calculator which dates to 20th October. The relief is unreal, it could just be the baby is a little bigger then average!
