I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Really sorry to hear that you are really sick norroom, it sounds horrible and I fully understand not wanting to go to the hospital - you feel as if you you will be more ill and more tired. I think if you are getting very dehydrated, you must be bravego before you are too weak, but hopefully a more experienced poster has a better response. Lots of hugs and full sympathy.

Also, complete insanity that you had an appointment but no GP was there. Hope you didn't go all the way to the surgery and had to go back.

justtheonethen · 30/12/2017 22:02

Noroom you will feel so much better for fluids and they might be able to add another drug. Combinations sometimes work better. Hope you're on your way!

justtheonethen · 30/12/2017 22:03

And yes, if more than 16 weeks then phone maternity assessment unit.

NoRoomForALittleOne · 30/12/2017 22:19

I’m only 7 weeks so not even booked with the midwife yet. I’m in A&E, I’ve been triaged, had bloods done and now to wait. I just want to go to bed.

justtheonethen · 30/12/2017 22:33

Sending you hugs. Hope you're on a drip soon.

icklekid · 31/12/2017 06:14

Oh noroom I'm so glad you went in. I had gp referall first time and then could go straight to ward rather than through a&e hope they give you a number to ring to go straight in if you get so dehydrated again. What a rubbish first 7 weeks Sad we're all here for you. Take care

justtheonethen · 31/12/2017 07:57

It's so different everywhere isn't it? I had to go through A&E until was 16 weeks and then I could go through the maternity ward. Although no one told me that until I was 25 weeks Hmm

How are you feeling *noroom?
*
Hope everyone else is managing.

justtheonethen · 31/12/2017 08:11

This reminded me of us all tonight. What is everyone's plans? We are going to celebrate my new found ability to eat things that aren't beige and get something nice in, I'm going to treat myself to a small glass of red and we are going to play scrabble. I expect I will be in bed by 9 Grin

Natsku · 31/12/2017 09:51

Oh dear NoRoom hope you got fluids and maybe some more/different meds and are feeling better now. Going through A&E must be pretty unpleasant (one of the few benefits of living in a small town is that our A&E is always quiet so never a long wait and there's always a bed if you need/want one)

Eating something non-beige and having a small glass of red sounds lovely Just I wouldn't mind a glass of wine but I have a feeling it would trigger my heartburn, might have one GF beer, maybe the low-alcohol one because after the 3rd degree my midwife gave me asking if I've been smoking, drinking, or taking drugs (and then asked my OH as if I might be lying!!) I feel a bit too uncomfortable having even one normal strength one!
Tonight we're going to eat pulled Reindeer with lingonberry jam (pre-made from Lidl) and roast potatoes and set off some fireworks (just got a few rockets and then a packet full of firecrackers and whatnot because I just love throwing them - are they still banned in the UK? )

Harebellmeadow · 31/12/2017 10:07

Hoping that everyone, and NoRoom is feeling better. I hope they are taking good care of you in hospital NoRoom
Today I cannot face any food but ice cold green grapes. Have started heaving first thing in the morning, my whole torso tight and pushing upwards, almost a conspiracy against my self-control trying not to be sick. And the all day nausea is just going to get more sever, I know it.

LostInTheTunnelOfGoats · 31/12/2017 10:20

Just popping in to say hello. I'll catch up properly later. Christmas and going for our scan has just exhausted me. Everything good though - healthy heartbeat, baby waved at us and it's not twins!

Happy New Year for later on!

OrangeCloud18 · 31/12/2017 11:52

It is so different depending on hospitals! For me, I went through A&E at 8 weeks because I had no idea what was happening to me... Then was given HG diagnosis and admitted. I was given a leaflet to recognise the signs of when to call and the antenatal ward's phone number. I bought sticks to test ketones and was monitoring everything I managed to keep down. My GP surgery was accross the road so I was going in every other day for blood pressure, urine, etc and when I was in too bad shape, either GP or me was calling ward and I was getting admitted again.
Then at 12 weeks I was introduced to my new best friend, Ondansetron.

I hope you are alright NoRoom!

If I don't come back on here today, Happy New Year! We can do this and we will all have beautiful babies in 2018!!

NoRoomForALittleOne · 31/12/2017 12:08

So, I was admitted for a few hours and given 3 bags of fluid plus IV ondansetron. I was sent home with a prescription for oral ondansetron and open access to the pregnancy assessment unit if I need more treatment. I was told to go sooner rather than later so they can just keep me a few hours rather than days. I feel pretty delicate now but not as ill as I did last night.

Shehz21 · 31/12/2017 13:52

NoRoom So glad you are feeling a bit better now and great news about having open access to the pregnancy assessment unit! It will be so much less stressful for you to go there than through A&E if ever you need fluids again in the future.
Hope the ondansetron helps you soon enough so you can avoid trips to the hosp for IV.
Take care of yourself and do rest as much as possible. You are still in the very early weeks and shouldn't even think of overdoing it at any point!

Elephantgrey Thank you re scan pics, the yawning one is a fav of mine too. Smile

MeadowHay Totally understand about having mini targets! I still do that at 28 weeks + and so glad I have an appointment every Tuesday of January. Really does help to look forward and countdown to the next scan/appointment rather than wait until end of March.

Mustang I'm so sorry I must have missed that bit!
A family friend of DH went into labour couple of hours ago and she was due 4th of Jan.
I was telling DH that's Mustang's induction date! Hope she goes before that though! DH wasn't the least bit confused when I said Mustang though,he knows the majority of you all by nowGrin

Justtheonethen Twinnie!! We should definitely meet then!!! Our little girls might become the best of friends and whenever they do something that we disapprove of and we remind them of how horrible our pregnancies were and they should be more grateful to be alive today, they'll be like "yeah yeah heard that story from Baby Shehz/Baby Just's mom" haha. Jokes aparr though, really SO happy that the steroids are working for you! Can get the good vibes from your posts! You do sound a lot better and fingers crossed it remains this way until March!
I am tempted to ask for steroids as well now.. Haven't kept anything down since yesterday morning. Feeling and looking like death here.

Natsku · 31/12/2017 13:53

That's good NoRoom especially the open access from now on

Shehz21 · 31/12/2017 13:55

Harebell So sorry you are feeling so shit today Sad
Can emphasize.. I feel like the early days since yesterday. Are your medecines not helping?
Keep nibbling on the cold green grapes for now if that's all your stomach can handle atm.

justtheonethen · 31/12/2017 14:11

Noroom your hospital sounds great. That will make it easier.

lost great news Smile

Natsku your dinner sounds amazing!

Shehz let's do it! How adorable will our little girls be Smile
Ask for a referral to a consultant to get steroids. I think at this stage you should!

Harebell Sad

Orange your hospital sounds brilliant. Mine are shit.

I don't feel as good today but think I overdid it yesterday Blush

My bump is suddenly enormous Shock

icklekid · 01/01/2018 06:07

Huge congratulations mustang Blair looks gorgeous and very comfy! Welcome to the pink castle of (hopefully) freedom from hypermesis. If it hasn't gone straight away (most of the time- I promise!) It will very soon. Well done for managing natural birth even if wasn't water birth as you would have liked. Hope your sleeping well.

elephant pizza and cake sounds incredible!!! Enjoy and hope it stays down!

justtheone I used to over do it all the time. Be gentle on yourself. Allow your body to recover. Focus on what you enjoyed doing but do try and cut back so you don't end up feeling like this constantly.

Shehz21 hope your feeling better this morning. So hard when start to get some relief and then you go back to feeling horrendous. Hold on to the hope it will get better again!
