Being around mumps

So I'm. Meant to see my friend on sat. Her little girl has mumps. Altho her girl will be out whilst I'm there. My friend is worried if I go round references.
Is it advisable to go there or give it a miss.

Well it depends on whether you're up to date with your mmr and have immunity. I went years thinking I had the mmr but then got informed by my mum that I hadn't! I had measles and rubella as a child so am immune to them but a blood test showed no immunity to mumps

Give it a miss. Mumps isn't fun. Pregnant mumps would be really not fun. Even if you've had your mmr, you may not be immune.

I've had 5 doses of mmr over the years and am still not rubella immune...

I was vaccinated and still caught the mumps when at uni, and no idea who from. I wouldn't risk it.

When I have mumps about 10 years ago the GP specifically told me to ensure I stayed away from pregnant ladies so I wouldn’t risk it x

It was more of a question of if it was a risk being as her daughter won't be in the house at the time. I wasn't sure x

I don't think that anybody can answer that with any real certainty but I think you have made the right choice to delay seeing her until another day.

Yep definitely. Altho will now be after Xmas as her poor dd face and neck is so swollen she took her to gp and they've told her to keep her off pre school until Jan. So womb see her till then now.
Definitely not worth the risk x
