Just clutching at straws really and hoping I might be jammy!

No, but I know someone who did!

Ooh and it's a real person and not an urban legend??

Sort of. I had terrible SPD in my first pregnancy which started really early. This time around I have some symptoms but it's nowhere near as bad & I'm 35 weeks tomorrow.

Had it in first two but not in third BUT I went to chiropractor about once a month and did Pilates DVD three times a week, having already done Pilates postnatally after dc2. I walked 4 miles (across the day) just a week before birth. It can be managed but it always felt as if I was one twinge away from SPD again.

ThatIsNachoCheese · 12/12/2017 20:37

I too had it with my first two pregnancies, it was terrible in my second and I needed crutches and was off work from 4 months.

We were very worried about having a 3rd but I had physio from 10 weeks and worked right up until 34 weeks. So it can happen!

Tentomidnight · 12/12/2017 20:40

Me! Had it first time round, but not during 2nd pregnancy (despite being huuuge so loads of extra weight).
The only thing I can put it down to is that during my 1st pg I was working and wearing shoes with heels. 2nd pg I was a SAHP and wearing flat shoes.

Prusik · 12/12/2017 20:42

Yep. Could hardly walk by 12 weeks with ds1. I'm pregnant with Ds 2 now and hardly felt a single niggle

Schlimbesserung · 12/12/2017 20:45

I had it in my first pregnancy, but not in my second. The following 3 pregnancies were awful though and I was on crutches from about 16 weeks each time.

I had Spd in my first pregnancy - was bad but manageable as it was only really really horrible towards the end.

No SPD at all during the second Smile

Really bad SPD with number 3, had crutches, regularly in tears where it hurt to move Sad

Joskar · 12/12/2017 20:56

Pregnancy 1 - niggles from 10 weeks or so; crutches at 20 weeks; by 24 weeks I couldn't walk really at all until 14 weeks pp
Pregnancy 2 - physio from 8 weeks for or less every week until 36 weeks and pretty much ok; not too bad pp and did loads of pilates
Pregnancy 3 - niggles began at 12 weeks; physio at 15 weeks; crutches at 20 weeks; took 6/7 weeks pp to be okish. I'm now (11 weeks pp) able to walk but get twangs after a mile or so. Hopefully pilates in the new year will sort me out.

Physio and Pilates make a massive, massive difference.

Had it the first two (really bad the second time) but went to an osteopath after second birth and she realigned my pelvis and had virtually none the next two pregnancies.

mindutopia · 12/12/2017 21:05

I had it quite badly in my first by now and (touch wood) I've not had any issues yet in this one (I'm 31 weeks). But I was able to pretty much get rid of it towards the end of my first with osteopathy and specific exercises and stretches, so I've done those things from early 2nd tri this time and so far, it seems to have held off. So I'm hoping I've managed to prevent it this time.

CremeDeSudo · 12/12/2017 21:08

Thank you all so there is hope! Mine got bad around 24 wks with DS. Chiropractor helped but it was still a struggle.

Currently 10+3 with DC2 and very nervous about what's to come. I'll get on the Pilates right away and reacquaint myself with my chiro!

I had it moderately with DD1 and mildly/moderately with DD2.

I was told to expect to suffer again, but luckily it was slightly less painful.

HazyDays81 · 12/12/2017 21:12

I suffered from SPD from about 32 weeks in my first pregnancy. Was on crutches, in a lot of pain & everything a real struggle. Second pregnancy thankfully I was absolutely fine! Felt like I was waiting for it to happen. Now nearly 27 weeks with #3 & so far so good. Hope you manage to avoid it x

blackteaplease · 12/12/2017 21:12

Nope, mine got progressively worse and started earlier with each pregnancy and I ended up on crutches with dc3.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 12/12/2017 22:36

Not only is there hope, but although I've had SPD during both pregnancies, I knew what it was the second time around and have managed it soooooooo much better. So even if you do get it, you can spot the symptoms much faster and manage it better!

noodlesandtomatoes · 13/12/2017 06:56

Yes, had it in my first. Second not really at all (think because I was fitter?). Third, on and off.

Jenijena · 13/12/2017 06:58

I was much much better in my second.

FairyPenguin · 13/12/2017 07:01

Yes, had it for around the last 10 weeks with my first pregnancy, and not at all with my second. I did Pilates all the way through my second pregnancy.

CremeDeSudo · 13/12/2017 08:43

Amazing thank you everyone Smile

I had SPD in first pregnancy and not in second. Didn't do anything different the second time round either
