Hi, I'm booked into a 4 hour hypnobirthing course in Feb (I'm due in April) but I'm keen to start reading up and getting into it now. Can anyone recommend any books/YouTube videos/MP3s/podcasts which would be a good intro to hypnobirthing? I've had a little look on google but would be keen to hear people's recommendations Smile

I highly recommend this www.amazon.co.uk/Effective-Birth-Preparation-Hypnobirthing-Hypnotherapy/dp/1910756369/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=hypnobirthing&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1513019006&sr=8-10
I used this and did a daisy birthing course. I'm sure it really helped me to go on to have an amazing birth compared to my first traumatic one. Good luck! I also bought the book and cd for the actual birth. Money very well spent!

I would do the programme associated with your course. The practice you'll need to do several times a week will be to create subconscious triggers for relaxation and pain relief, so you'll want to be practicing the same thing with some consistency to develop those triggers. I wouldn't start with one approach and then switch to something else. So find out if the course you're taking has a self-hypnosis track and book you can buy now to use and start practicing with that. I did natal hypnotherapy with my first birth and it was wonderful and I'd really recommend it, but only obviously if that's what you've already signed up for.
