Really sore ribs and back on the left side. Normal pregnancy aches and pains ?

I've had awful pains on the right hand side of the top of my rib cage radiating to my back and ended up at MAU a couple of weeks back with it as it can be a sign of pre eclampsia or liver / gallbladder issues.
Now for the last two days I've had pain on the left, also radiating to my back. I think this is most likely normal pregnancy aches and am thinking on the left it's less of a worry?
Anyone else got this?
I've been checked out for the other things that are potentially a risk on the right side so think it's ok to not get it looked at unless it gets worse but any tips or experiences appreciated!

This seems to get more painful when I eat so must be things pushing up I think. Unlike the right side pain I was having ,this can be relieved by lying down so I'm less worried. But late pregnancy seems to be actually painful this time round rather than just uncomfortable -or maybe I am less tolerant of pain now I'm older!

Have you had anyone listen to your chest and check oxygen? It's rare but it can be sign of a blood clot. I had similar a few weeks back and it was pleurisy. Painful but apparently goes away on its own.
Keep an eye on things. Pre eclampsia can creep up on you so if you have any other symptoms please get checked.

Thanks Graphista and no, oxygen and chest haven't been checked. When it's bad it's really quite excruciating but it's odd it's moved sides so I guess more likely to be to do with the pregnancy but I will bear that in mind and get checked if it's still like this tomorrow.

I've had rib and top of bump pain on left hand side for most of the second half of my pregnancy. Have been told it is more than likely baby's position. Of course if you do have other symptoms that could look like pre eclampsia, do get checked out.

Thanks it's painful isn't it! Paracetamol just isn't helping but stretching out does a bit whereas with the other right hand side pain that made no difference. Now I just have to lie down the next five weeks 😉
Yes baby's position makes sense. I will ring for advice if still having issues though.

My concern would be a clot too which can move. But equally it could be baby positioned awkwardly and pressing on a nerve - I had that at this stage with dd which gave me a weird twitch in my shoulder.

I didn't know that about clots... will definitely call for advice if it doesn't improve. It's been okay for a week or so and I was even considering cancelling the scan they booked after the last worry with the right side pain. I won't though! Would an unltrasound pick a clot up do you think?

This baby seems to be everywhere so I wouldn't be surprised if it was pressing on a nerve!

Please don't be overly worried, FAR more likely to be baby pressing on a nerve they can be awkward buggers like that Grin

I had similar and saw my gp. She said it was most likely to be my gallbladder. The hormone relaxin that allows everything to move also allows any stones that are in there to try to come out.
My gp said that there was little that could be done whilst I was pregnant but that it should clear up after.
It was so incredibly painful. I would rather have labour again.

I was very burpy and felt like I had air trapped under my ribs if that sounds familiar.

I had rib flare which eased off when lying down. I'm pretty sure I had it on both sides at different times, sometimes both at once. I saw a physio who gave me stretching exercises which made a bit of a difference but not loads.

Thanks and yes they are awkward ! This has been such an uncomfortable pregnancy from the start.
Winky I have a scan booked so will hopefully find out but yes lots of heartburn and digestive issues too and am on omeprazole and gaviscon and still having issues.
Nickitynac it could be that then , just looked up. Although when it was the right sided pain no stretching etc helped. I need to chase up my physio referral (for hips) probably!
