Can't stop eating in first trimester & feel massive!

Last time I was pregnant I felt pretty ok & didn't look pregnant 'til well into the second trimester. This time round it's a different story! I feel sick constantly and only want to eat carbs. I'm also too tired to do much exercise so I'm feeling massive and it's really getting me down. I know I'm being ridiculous, I have put on a fair amount of weight, mainly on my thighs but I have a proper baby belly now at 11 weeks.
I'm hoping once the sickness goes healthy food will be more appealing and I can get back to the gym. Has this been the case with anyone else? And how did you deal with it? I'm usually really health conscious and I feel embarrassed! I know I'm being silly though.

Normal normal normal. Just eat!

I remember being absolutely ravenous every second of my first trimester. Not a normal hunger either, I was completely unable to stop myself eating anything in sight. I normally eat pretty healthy as well, lots of veg etc. I did put on quite a bit of weight, felt quite sluggish and expected the worst for the rest of my pregnancy.

My appetite returned to relatively normal levels in the second trimester though, and overall I put on only the recommended amount of weight.

I wouldn't worry too much yet, you are likely to feel much better soon. Enjoy the carbs :-)

Exactly the same here, I've been really upset over it, even though rationally I know it's a phase. I'm 17 weeks and have put on 2 stone and haven't been able to maintain any exercise. It was bad with DC1 but worse this time. Just hoping I can breastfeed the weight off again. Very depressing!!!

Thank you! I'm glad it's normal. Sorry to hear that you're feeling the same batman.

Same here. As soon as I started feeling the slight bit peckish I would almost vomit so pretty much constantly ate. I remember I was sick at breakfast after banana and porridge, and couldn't face either again so breakfast became bagels. My lunch would turn into mid morning snack, so would have to buy lunch while at work. I piled on the weight. Three stone!!! And still haven't lost it 6 years later Sad

Same here. First time around didn’t feel any different and as I got bigger found my appetite decreased as just felt so over full if I ate much. Gained just over 2 stone in total.

Now 37 weeks with number 2. Awful nausea in first tri, only kept at bay by eating carbs, and then extreme hunger since. The baby also seems to prefer less healthy foods. I knew I’d gained a lot but stayed off the scales. Unfortunately they weighed me at my consultant appointment last week. Gained almost 3.5 stone. Mortified! But it hasn’t stopped me eating Blush. Guess I can’t see the point in worrying about it now with 3-5 weeks left!

Same! 14 weeks and have gained 6lbs, mostly on my thighs and arse.

Does anyone know, is there any point trying to reduce/moderate my intake now to reset things? I know that I'll gain weight over the next six months but surely losing unnecessary flab now would be a positive step?
