5 weeks pg but Clearblue says less

Hi all. My last period was November 4th, which makes me 5+1 weeks pregnant. I definitely ovulated on cd14 so I conceived 3 weeks and 2 days ago. When I did a Clearblue digital this morning, it said 2-3 weeks when it should say 3+.

I have constant sore nipples and tiredness and ocassional nausea but am so worried that I don't feel more pregnant, if that makes sense. Should I be worried? This is my second pregnancy but I don't really remember how I felt in the early days with my first.

The dates on clear blue can be wrong. My midwife said they're a nightmare

BandhaAid · 10/12/2017 11:34

Thanks, @c4bbage. The first trimester is a nightmare!

I wouldn't worry - I was obsessive over pregnancy tests and I never ever got more than 2-3 weeks on a clear blue. Currently holding my 6 month old!

Think the numbers on clearblue relate to weeks from conception so you should be comparing to 3weeks +2 not 5weeks.

But I agree with the others they are not reliable as individual women have very different HCG levels at the same day of pregnancy, so they can only base it on an average. Personally I think they cause so much unnecessary upset, I wish they were banned!

gamerchick · 10/12/2017 11:50

I wish they were banned as well. They're meant to be an (expensive) bit of fun not a exact science.

BandhaAid · 10/12/2017 11:56

@moggle yes, that's what I'm doing- I'm 5 weeks pregnant but conceived just over 3 weeks ago so it should say 3+ but it doesn't. Thank you for your reassurance, I guess I do need to stop panicking. It's been 4 years since my last pregnancy and I'm surprised how much I've forgotten!

That sounds right to me. I wouldn't expect to get 3+ until the end of 5 weeks into early 6 weeks. If you conceived 2 weeks into your cycle, you are in fact still 2-3 weeks pregnant. You conceived (on average) about 3 weeks 1 day ago. That is still in the range of 2-3 weeks (the 3 weeks here can be anytime until the end of your 3rd week). The 3+ means more than 3 full weeks ago, so really it's like 4 weeks ago. It's not precise and that's why they offer those ranges, as you don't just move to 3+ the second you hit 3 weeks. It should be when you are MORE than 3 weeks pregnant. I've not gotten 3+ at only 5+1. Usually it's towards the end of the week, into 6 weeks.

Those tests are the devil. They're just going on the strength of the line which can vary for all sorts of reasons. Put the tests away!

BandhaAid · 11/12/2017 11:30

@mindutopia That's so helpful and makes loads of sense, thank you. And @thingymabob, I think I will just back away from the tests 😂

I got a 2-3 at 6 weeks-ish - took me til nearly 7w to get a 3+! Am currently 21w and baby kicking as I type. Those tests are not accurate at all, don’t worry OP (impossible
I know!) Flowers

CL1982 · 11/12/2017 12:58

Oh these tests cause so much agro :( They have pulled them in the States OP.

Lots of people vary. I had two experiences with them - one where i had a mc and never got beyond 1-2 weeks (so they were accurate) and this pregnancy where they went to 3+ a whole week early. If you google it people's experiences really vary. Some women never get 3+ and other get them in the first week!
