Today is the 3rd day I have suffered with the worse migraine possible. I'm 10 weeks and never had s headache like this.
I feel worse there is nothing I can take for it. I can't even stand up it's so bad.

Any advice on what might help??

Sounds silly but have you checked your blood pressure and made sure you aren't dehydrated? I'd see you GP if I was you. Hope you feel better soon xx

Tinselistacky · 10/12/2017 11:03

Phone your mw.
Do you get migraine in general? Research shows no evidence to say you can't take your usual medication. Wish I had know that as I am endured many during my last pregnancy.

Poppy1989 · 10/12/2017 11:10

@chocolateorangeowls I have been drinking lots lately so deff not dehydration.

The pains is horrible and all down one side of my head. Tried hot water bottles and cold ice to see if it can help but no luck.

@Tinselistacky haven't seen the midwife yet..... first app is due on Thursday.

I don't want to take paracetamol as it's still early weeks and don't think it would help a migraine like this.

I mentioned this to my mw when i saw her on Wednesday at 8 weeks. I'm having terrible pounding headaches and migranes. She checked my bp it was something over 60 so low. She just said it was hormones, a postive sign of pregnancy! Doesn't feel that bloody postive when they are hurting so much. I had the exact same when

BlueeSpottyTiger · 10/12/2017 11:19

Oops.... when pg with my daughter. Xx

Poppy1989 · 10/12/2017 11:25

@BlueeSpottyTiger it's so painful. I can't sleep or even move my head off the pillow.
It hurts so much I would happily rip my own head off ☹️ did you take paracetamol to help?

I feel for you as I get these. I find that a cool flannel helps a bit and also lying face down with my head on the corner of the pillow helps, maybe it's the pressure or something. It's bit weird but it seems to help! You could try that 4head stuff too and also a warm bath with your feet sticking out is supposed to help, I don't know if it really does but I will try anything!!!

BlueeSpottyTiger · 10/12/2017 14:04

No i don't take any tablets atall when pregnant. I'm being extra crazy this pregnancy because of my previous loss I'm not even dying my roots, I look great 😂
Aww bless you, i know exactly how you feel! It's horrible when you can't sleep aswell. Nothing helps mine, i just have to ride them out. With my dd's pregnancy i had them about twice a week for the entire pregnancy sometimes days on end. I couldn't move because even sitting up would make the pounding absolutley unbearable! Can you speak to your doctor? I think its worth having your bp checked and just see what they say

manctart I'll try that bath thing in future when i get one!

Xx

BlueeSpottyTiger · 10/12/2017 14:06

I had to go to the epu last week and the doctor did say that paracetamol is completely safe in pregnancy though, so maybe you could try having 1? I understand if you dont though xx

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 10/12/2017 15:08

Call your midwife!

LadyFlumpalot · 10/12/2017 15:11

I agree with the advice to call your midwife, however you could try drinking Lucozade (the old fashioned orange stuff) as I found that very good for my pregnancy headaches due to the electrolytes and rehydrating properties. You should be fine to take paracetamol as well. In fact, a pint of Lucozade and some paracetamol!

RosieCotton · 10/12/2017 16:36

I suffer with the worst migraines ever. I also have intercranial hypertension. I have had to come off all my medications, I feel for you. I have cool n soothe migraine strips for my head and find putting my hands and feet in warm water and an ice pack on the back of my neck helps slightly. Other than that flat coke as caffeine constricts the nerves making them less prone to the pain. I feel for you. Definitely get to your GP though my low blood pressure is a major influence on my head pain x

I have migraines with aura when I’m not pregnant and this pregnancy they have been awful. I was told by my consultant I could take paracetamol and co codamol for if they get really bad. My midwife said the GP can prescribe a more long term medication to prevent them but I had a few weeks relief so didn’t see him in the end. However today they’re back with a vengeance and I’ve lost feeling in my hand and tongue so I’m off to the docs tomorrow. I have been trying to stay away from cheese and chocolate too as they can be triggers though I’ve not really noticed a difference from just that. Hope they clear up for you soon it really is horrible isn’t it 😫xx

Poppy1989 · 10/12/2017 18:43

Thank you all for your messages. I haven't got a midwife yet.... so have no one to call to ask advice.
Feeling so low and worried about it all.

Don't worry about not having a midwife yet, just get an emergency appointment with your GP tomorrow (that is probably where the midwife would send you anyway - they did me with any weird aches and pains.)

You can take paracetamol when pregnant, I would give it a try as you sound like you're really suffering. You definitely need to be seen by someone as you can't carry on like this. Hope you feel better soon xx

Ratbagratty · 11/12/2017 17:07

It can be a symptom of a if I even if you are drinking lots. Get a dip test done withmidwife or even just your gp nurse to make sure.
