Hi Everyone
I’m new to mumsnet and started trying to conceive about two months ago.
Last month I started getting heavy, sore boobs about ten days before my period was due. I did a few pregnancy tests about four days before my period was due and got faint positives. Then a day before my period was due I started with light bleeding but that then turned into heavy, bright red bleeding for four or five days. My boobs stopped hurting and I assumed it was a definite early miscarriage. (I didn’t take any more tests)
A week ago I had a day feeling oddly nauseous so took another test which was a strong positive. My period would have been due a few days ago in theory.
I’ll call the GP for an appointment tomorrow but have started to wonder....do you think this could be the same pregnancy?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated- I’m feeling very inexperienced and am hoping I haven’t been silly about this.
Thanks in advance

Op have you been due another AF since the miscarriage?

threemountains · 10/12/2017 10:08

In that case you can't be sure so you would need to have an early scan to date your pregnancy. Find the details for your nearest EPU and how to get refferred (either by GP or self refferral)

If by GP you need to explain and ask them to refer you to have your pregnancy dated, if self referal call them and explain.

Sounds like you had a chemical pregnancy followed by a bfp. There's a smaller possibility that the first pregnancy took and the period was an anomoly, that happens occasionally that women have periods throughout their pregnancy or heavy bleeds without losing the baby. You'll find out at a scan.

Ok. Thanks for your replies! I’ll try to see my GP tomorrow. Bit worried as I drank for a few weeks after the bleed.

Meh, you and most people in early pregnancy!

I got very drunk with both my babies before BFP. Don't worry about that too much, it's fairly common.
I think it sounds like you had a chemical pregnancy and then fell pregnant the month after - this has happened to me before.
The only way is by getting an early scan done. Explain to your EPU the situation and they should get you in for an internal. Best of luck to you

OK - I'll do that. Thanks for the reassurance!

OP an early scan will tell you if this is a new pregnancy. The first sounds like a chemical pregnancy whereas this one sounds like it’s implanted properly.
Please don’t worry about drinking very early on as the baby isn’t connected to you at first and gets all nutrients from a yolk sack xx
