Baby movement

I'm 21 weeks and 5 days, is it strange I can't feel the baby move yet? I'm really worried because others have felt it after 18 weeks.

It could be baby's position in the womb means movements are less noticeable. Have you had your 20 week scan yet?

Yes I had it at 18 weeks, it was all fine

I didn't feel my baby until about the same time as you are now. I am now 38 weeks. This is my 4th so I thought I would feel it a lot sooner but really all pregnancies are different.

It can take up to 24 weeks according to midwives. Especially if you have an anterior placenta and/or it's your first baby. I'm sure I was around 22 weeks with my daughter.

Do you know where your placenta is lying? If across the front, it might be muffling the movement. I've had this in 2 out of 3 pregnancies and it makes a big difference in terms of feeling the baby move.

Up to 24 weeks is normal. It's hard to tell what the movements are at first. Kind of like a popping air feeling. It doesn't feel like a movement push or kick until you are much further on.

People feel it earlier with second babies because they recognise the feeling.
