Red bush/rooibos during pregnancy?

Did/Does anyone else drink rooibos tea during pregnancy? I have been drinking it for a few weeks as a substitute for normal tea (which I went off the taste of) but now I am concerned whether it's OK?

Hmm
Well i askes one midwife who said it was fine, then another (maybe doctor? I forget) who said it can slightly lower your blood pressure (i think). I have super low bp anyway so gave up on it but think in small amounts it's ok.

Have also been told up to 3 peppermint teas per day also totally fine.

Hmm, that's strange you say about the blood pressure as it has been quite low so far. I will stop having the tea. So worried I might have harmed the baby thinking I was doing right by not having caffeine or tannins...so hard to know what's right.

It's what I've switched to, but I haven't consulted with the doctor yet (first GP appointment next week). I didn't know it carried its own risks. I have 1-2 cups a day, I'm about 5 weeks. Should I stop?

I had 1 - 3 cups of it a day in the first trimester as I'd read it was fine in pregnancy and I was trying to break my caffeine addiction. I think I OD'd on it as in the second trimester I couldn't bear the thought of it and stopped.! I'm 28 weeks now.

I've drunk red bush tea throughout my pregnancy, I'm 30 weeks now and all healthy. I've drunk loads of red bush for years, never occurred to me it could be bad! I drink a couple of mugs of normal tea a day as well.

When you think about all the other stuff that gets into our bodies and our unborn babies like air pollution, plastics getting into the water supply, preservatives, other food additives, pesticides, antibiotics in meat... puts a few cups of naturally caffeine free tea in perspective.

I drank it so much during pregnancies and bf I put myself off it!

I had several cups a day of it during my whole pregnancy as I don't drink normal tea and was told it was fine. I also had normal blood pressure throughout and then high in third trimester. I now have a perfectly healthy 11 month old.

I really wouldn't worry but do bring it up when you next see your midwife to put your mind at rest.
