Smp/maternity allowance or nothing?

Hi everyone

Wondering if anyone can help me with figuring out if I'm entitled to any pay. I'm 24 weeks pregnant and having to hand my notice in at work as moving away. My last day will be 6th January.

I only work part time over £150 a week. I have worked there since February but only started working more hours in august. Before that i only did one day a week.

I've tried looking online just find it all so confusing and wondering if anyone else could help? Would I still be entitled even if I have to resign ? Can my employer refuse ?

Sorry, I'm rusty now. But I think the first step is to find out if you're eligible for smp. Your employers hr dept should be able to tell you. If not, they fill out a form stating that, which is part of your application for maternity allowance which is generally for people who have been in work but aren't eligible for smp for any reason, or are self employed.

You will get maternity allowance. When you get your mat b 1 form you need to fill in the application for it. X

There are a few conditions:

You must earn more than £113
Tell your employer at least 15 weeks before the baby is due
Give them proof (MAT B1 form)
Have worked for the employer for 26 continuously into the qualifying week which is 15 weeks before baby is due, so around 25 weeks pregnant.

So, provided you've given the correct notice and proof you've qualified. Once you've qualified, even if you leave, you are entitled to SMP.

Earliest it can start is 11 weeks before due date so 29 weeks pregnant which is about when you leave.

So in short, yes, you qualify!
