So dizzy. Heart pounding.

35+3 and I've been feeling pretty sick for the last few days. This morning I feel really clammy and I keep having heart palpitations. The baby is very active, more so than normal and everytime she moves I feel really dizzy! Anyone had anything like this. Can't get hold of midwife and I don't want to call triage if it's something trivial.

You're worried, the baby is more active than normal, I think you're right to be checked out. It may be trivial, but you need an expert to be the judge of that.
Can you ring the delivery suite? I know they took calls when I couldn't get hole of the community midwife.

We have maternity helpline that we can call and it takes you through to triage on the delivery suite. I've not eaten all morning due to feeling sick, so perhaps I should try that first. Definitely not how I want to be feeling when I'm hope alone with an almost 3 year old.

I’d have something to eat and then make the call if you’re not feeling any better 15 minutes after eating. I feel very light headed if I don’t eat so could just be a blood sugar thing. But if you don’t feel better it’s best to get checked. Or at least describe your symptoms. Not trivial at all.

I felt the same a few weeks ago and called 111 (it was the weekend). Got sent to an out of hours GP for a checkup. Nothing to worry about in the end, just told to rehydrate and rest more, but it was reassuring to get checked over. Don't feel bad about calling, it makes sense to look after yourself.

Give labour ward a call. Best to be safe. I had similar at 25 weeks and they checked my heart thoroughly. Nothing wrong but there could've been.

I phoned them, they've told me to call my gp. Phoned them who have told me they can't see me until the 21st. Guess I'll just have to ride it out.

I've eaten now. I phoned the childrens centre where my midwife is based and she's not in this week

The GP should give you an emergency appointment. Make sure you state what youre pregnant.
If you get no joy phone the triage back and ask for more advice.
Could be anaemia, could just be pregnancy proegressing - I've felt like this the last couple of weeks.
Make sure you're drinking and try and eat something.
Surprised that triage didn't invite you in with a change in movements (Even increased movements should be looked into generally.)

I'm very surprised they won't get you in for a check. Call again or get emergency GP appointment.

GP said to call tomorrow morning first thing to see if they have any cancellation.
They said I could go and sit and wait today but it's unlikely I will be seen.
I'm already on iron tablets, so it could be anaemia but that's being managed quite well

To me that sounds like anaemia (exactly how I felt when I was severely anaemic), though it's odd it's come on so suddenly especially if you are already on tablets. You should be seen urgently and have your bloods checked. I would call 111 if you have no luck via your midwife. There should be a non-urgent midwife number and you should be able to speak to any of the midwives (doesn't matter if yours is around this week or not) and they should be able to get you in to day assessment to check your blood and other vitals. Personally, I wouldn't bother with the GP as they will be slower than the midwives, but if you can't get in to maternity assessment I would call 111 for an urgent GP appt.

do you not have a fetal assessment unit where you would go if you couldn't feel any movement?

@mindutopia my midwife isn't available. She's the only one in this small town. If she's not available we phone the triage unit at the hospital. The hospital have told me to see my gp. Not sure what 111 could do as I'm waiting for the gp to call back.

@Howaboutanotherusername if we have reduced movements we go to triage at the hospital. My baby is very very active. I told the midwife at the hospital that she was more active than normal and she laughed and said "that's good"

i always thought it was ANY change in movements go and get checked so if baby is more active than normal

Absolutely no idea why but my account got deleted. I am original OP.

Went to the GP and he says I've got an inner and outer ear infection, hence the sickness, dizziness and rapid heart rate. Ears actually feel fine but he said he can see it all going on in there. Any excuse for a few days bed rest ay! He also got one of the nurses to have a look at me who is trained as a midwife and she said the baby is in a perfect position where as last week she was back to back, which would account for all the movement.

As the midwife told me, it takes them a few minutes of their day to hook you up to a machine and leave you there for half an hour so they can monitor what’s going on. It’s absolutely next to zero hassle for them so it’s always best to go in and get checked out

@bluebell34567 BP was a bit high but not alarmingly so.
