Getting labour started?

Might be an odd one...

Wondering if anyone has any tips that helped them or people they know to go into labour (on time)?

I'm currently expecting DC2.
DC1 was overdue and I had him a day before my induction was scheduled. Being overdue was terrible and knackering and I was also worried about my upcoming induction and I found it all really stressful.

I've now got it in my head again that DC2 will also be overdue and that's what's made me come here to ask if anyone has anything they've done that worked for them or helped them?
I know different things work for different people and baby will come when it's ready no matter what but I've a week to go, Im not sleeping anyway due to heartburn and frequent toilet trips and general uncomfortableness, I'm on mat leave and have lots of spare time so throw some suggestions my way?

Does going for walks help? Spicy food? Exercise?

I had a long walk the night before my waters broke but then I was 40 weeks pregnant so who knows if it had anything to do with it or not. I believe having sex (or perhaps sperm on the cervix) can help but that's just from reading MN. I'd avoid spicy food personally, if it doesn't work immediately you'll just be in for nasty heartburn!

Hoover the whole house! I had a sweep too which may of helped

@Jessiecat27 I just hoovered the whole house today Grin I got a new baby cordless one delivered yesterday and have been itching to use it.

I had a sweep with DS which did nothing.

Me and DH laugh that burnt garlic bread (DHs fault) and DTD is what prompted DSs arrival as he made an appearance the morning after...

The two days before my waters went I went for an hour long brisk walk each day and the days before that just made sure I had a bit of exercise each day... I bounced on my birthing ball a lot too!!
