Second GS seen on 2nd ultrasound only

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help...

I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks due to bleeding & 2 previous MCs - everything looked fine & as it should (relieved, but still very cautious as things can still go wrong)

Today a follow up ultrasound due to 2 previous MCs at 9w 5d - again everything looked as it should. However the side note the sonographer has written has got me worried even though she said everything was fine (& I do trust her, but I am scared & terrified of anything & everything going wrong, again)

Summed up she has written that a smaller area with no internal contents was also seen - possibly a second gestational sac - but this wasn't picked up on the first ultrasound.

I wondered if anyone else had had this or heard of this? 🤔 The sonographer never mentioned it in the room... Why wouldn't they see it at the first ultrasound? Where has this come from?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Not totally sure but could be a vanishing twin? Only one baby developed...?

In a previous pregnancy that unfortunately ended in MC, I had an early scan (cos of previous MCs) there was a 2md sac containing "something" tho was smaller, scan 2 weeks later showed it had vanished and was just a single pregnancy. Sonographer said it's common to see and nothing to worry about

Thank you everyone for your replies!

I did think vanishing twin but it's just so strange that nothing came up on the first scan but it has come up now Confused

I have my 12 week scan on December 11th, so I guess I'll find out more then & I'll be sure to ask the sonographer.

I'll try & remember to update the thread as well!

Hopefully it's nothing to worry about & all will be fine!

Thanks again Smile

It could be bleeding. I had bleeding and it looked like another empty sac but they said it was a forgive me if I am wrong but I think called a subchronic hematoma or something like that. And it can show up anytime and it’s a little bit of bleeding in the womb and usually the body absorbs it back In and you never would have known it was there

I just wanted to come back & up date as promised -

All was well on today's 12 week scan the sonographer couldn't see any problems & no other gestational sac or anything similar.

Thank you all for your help! Xmas Smile
