Pregnancy nausea

I'm only 7 weeks and feel horrendously sick all the time.

I'm living off 3 pieces of toast a day and water.
My gp gave me phenegran which helps with the nausea but knocks me out, gives me a horrible dry mouth and makes me feel really weak.

I have a phobia of being sick but haven't been. I feel like I can't cope with this. It wasn't this bad in my last pregnancy

Massive hugs. This was me recently; third pregnancy & I feel like utter shit.

Haven't really found much that helps bar lemonade (weirdly) & i'm managing sausage roll at the mo. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone...I have to remind myself every day that it will be worth it Flowers

I fancy lemonade every time I get ill, strange.

I feel like utter shit. Still in bedSad

I usually drink it warm when i'm ill but it makes me gip atm. I've found room temperature is best. Ooh & oddly Haribo sweets - just plain ones - sometimes help.

I'm better today, thankfully as got loads to do. But I have literally been dragging my ass out of bed in a morning, dropping my DD at school then going back to bed for the day. Someone mentioned that the more tired they were the worse their nausea was & I found that to be really true, so now I'm taking it easy x

BexleyRae · 25/11/2017 12:44

Not eating will make you feel worse. I found nibbling on a digestive biscuit as soon as I woke up helped a little.
It is a rubbish time, try to eat tiny amounts of anything you fancy, don't worry about a balanced diet right now, even if its sweets or crisps or KFC (DD was practically made from KFC!)

user1485778793 · 25/11/2017 12:49

This baby is being made from toast, jam and party ring biscuits Grin

Best thing is to graze continuously as low blood sugar will make nausea worse. Big pack of digestives, pack of plain crackers. Keep digestives by your bed, try and have one in the night if you wake up too. Hang in there, mine lifted at about 16 weeks came back at 37 weeks with a vengeance Thanks

You are not alone, it’s awful isn’t it. I’m 11 weeks and have been off work for a month. Living on Coke, small amount of fizzy water, cheese on toast at the moment. Most food and drink is foul. Had a phase of eating filled pasta with butter and cheese and now can’t face that either. Ditto crisps. Fruit and veg is mostly foul too although managing a little tinned fruit now and then. Smells are horrendous, food, outside, my own DH and DS smell terrible.

Flowers you have my sympathy!

Buglife · 25/11/2017 13:06

Salt and vinegar Squares crisps, pasta with just grates cheese on it, mashed potato ans toast... some of the delicacies I've been eating this last week. I'm only 6 weeks but I know from DS1 that I got a lot worse than this and it lasted until 15 weeks. I'm praying it doesn't get that bad or Christmas is ruined :(

help1978 · 25/11/2017 13:11

I managed 9 months on crisps, vomit, crisps, vomit
Hideous....hoping if passes for you x

user1485778793 · 25/11/2017 13:16

I walked into the lounge smelt what dh had cooked did a u turn back to bed.

I can't tell the difference between nausea from pregnancy or not eating Confused

I had nausea without actually throwing up, all the way through my first 14 weeks or so, you have my sympathies, it's really not nice. I nibbled on melon and apple, and had ginger biscuits and crackers stashed all over the house to munch on whenever it got really bad. Eat what you can, when you can, and try and drink plenty of water, or lemonade if it helps. I lost weight during that period, but my appetite is back with a vengeance now, I'm 32+3 now and eating us out of house and home! Remember, this too will pass!

Xx

Thanks everyone

It doesn't help that I panic if I think I'm going to be sick Confused

There is a hyperemesis support thread. Head on over there the women are so helpful and there are all levels of sickness on there with loads of tips on how to survive nausea. It's so bloody debilitating Thanks there is no need for you to suffer just because you are pregnant.

Beansprout30 · 25/11/2017 13:42

I'm 10 weeks and have had the same since 5 weeks, Dr also gave me phenegan (sp?) as I was struggling to look after my toddler and go to work. It's helped massively, I can eat normally now and I'm not completely exhausted and weak, what dosage have you been given? I have 10mg, 3 times a day and I don't find it makes me too sleepy, going to knock it down to two and see if I can wean off now. I feel for you, it's bloody awful. First pregnancy was a breeze compared to this one

user1485778793 · 25/11/2017 13:49

My tablets are 25mg 3 times a day max. I've reduced it to 2 and feel as tired today.

I just feel so ill

Beansprout30 · 25/11/2017 13:51

Perhaps ask your doctor if he can prescribe 10mg x

Bonnieb168 · 25/11/2017 22:27

Hi OP, I feel your pain 11 weeks here and still suffering although it has got slightly better this week so I’m hoping I’m coming to the end!! i have found ginger biscuits, mango, melon and McDonald’s cheese burgers to be a life saver! Coke also helps, which I know is a terrible drink and i barely touch the stufff when not pregnant but desperate times!! You will get through this and it will be worth it just take it easy on yourself and get as much rest as you can!

foodiemama26 · 26/11/2017 06:52

Go back to your dr and try a different medication...it took me 3 different lots until I found one that worked. It still didn’t lift the nausea completely but enough that I could eat and not throw up 5+ times a day. I would really recommend trying to eat a bit more as mine was definitely made worse my being hungry. Hope you feel bettter soon...i’m now 27 weeks and only on medication every other day so it does get better for most!

user1485778793 · 26/11/2017 10:43

The side effects of the tablets aren't as strong now. I did manage to eat a bit more.... Crisps and some lemonade

Ugh I'm also feeling it. I'm 6 weeks. Idk how to survive 10 more weeks of this. I've got two really important work presentations Thurs and Fri. Maybe I need to see the GP. I work from home and I have been starting at 10am or later and working in the evening. I'm so utterly miserable.
