3 sheets and a sleepbag

nearlythere · 18/04/2007 12:26

yup some fitted sheets, grobag (two if funds will stretch!) always handy to have flat sheets and cellular blankets on hand but not essential!

shonaspurtle · 18/04/2007 12:34

A lot less than you'd think going by the box of virtually unused sheets & blankets that I have under the bed.

hitchcock · 18/04/2007 12:36

i have loads of sheets etc yhat i have never used with either of my dc

AnnabelCaramel · 18/04/2007 12:37

Wait wait wait and buy it when you need it. You will save yourself both cash and space!

thehairybabysmum · 18/04/2007 12:39

i use three sheets and two grobags, get stretch fitted sheets.

I also have a drawer full of blankets that i bough/was given that are rarely used.

When it was v. hot in the summer i just put him to bed in a nappy and vest and pulled a light cotton blanket or sheet over when i went to bed

Washersaurus · 18/04/2007 12:45

I also have a cupboard full of sheets and blankets never used...save your money.

clairemow · 18/04/2007 12:47

we have 4 fitted sheets (much easier) and various gro bags - 2 x 2.5 tog, 2 x 1.5 tog and a 1 tog for v. hot weather - but we have 2 DSs and have just accumulated things as we've gone on, so don't need that many...

It'll depend on the temp when your baby is born. As it's July, he/she'll probably be fine under a sheet and blanket to start with. We didn't use a grobag until ours were over 10lb.

I too have loads of blankets I've never used. Although I do now use them between the plastic sheet and the ordinary sheet on DS1's bed so he doesn't get sweaty!

Mumpbump · 18/04/2007 12:48

Couple of fitted sheets, one small cellular blanket for swaddling if you're intending to do so (I found it really good) and a light cotton pillowcase. (I used to put a pillowcase over ds in the heatwave last year as anything else was too hot...)

Princesspowersparkle · 18/04/2007 13:38

Thanks girls- its a relief to know you don't need the 75 different blacnket and sheets that most shops have you believing you need!
A few sheets, a blanket and a grobag. Fab!
Thank you!! X

We got two grobags as presents as people know how handy they are so they make a good gift.

As you wouldn't use one on a newborn straight away you might even want to hang fire on buying one.

clairemow · 18/04/2007 14:59

PPS, it is worth having 2 of everything for those occasions when they sick up down their grobag/over the blanket!

Nemo2007 · 18/04/2007 15:01

will cheekily post here to say I have some cotbed bedding for sale and lots of grobags if you are interested?

mad4girls · 18/04/2007 21:56

just thought id add if you are going to use a carrycot, crib,or moses basket dont bother buying fitted sheets for them just use pillow cases they fit perfectly and save you loads.

Princesspowersparkle · 18/04/2007 21:57

Great tip- thanks Mad4girls!

On kind of the same subject - do i need to buy separate / different bedding for the pram as well? Some shops are saying that the moses basket bedding can be used for both. I have no idea - it's all very confusig!

MrsBadger · 19/04/2007 10:12

if the mattresses are the same size (ish) then just use the same sheets, but you will need twice as much for the days when they're sick in the pram and in the moses basket...
