I’ll be 35 weeks tomorrow, mentioned at my consultant appointment that I was having a fair few Braxton Hicks.
She checked baby’s position and he is fully engaged, whilst she was feeling baby I had a braxton hick which she said didn’t feel like one and was a ‘proper’ contraction. She examined me and I am 2cm dilated & 100% effaced and was told it’s early labour. Is effacement the thinning of the cervix?
She sent me straight for steroid injection and I’m back tomorrow for my second lot.
I’m having back pain with tons of pressure and pain in my thighs. Trying to rest as much as possible.
Has anyone managed to stay at 2cm for a fair while whilst contracting fairly regularly?

Yes, effacement is thinning of the cervix. Best of luck with everythingFlowers

Have you been sent home? If you're getting a lot of pain and pressure you need to phone as I expect they may want you to come back in.
Effacement is thinning of the cervix and as a general rule only happens in labour (there's always an exception to the rule so that isn't to say it's definitely labour and different people have slightly different opinions of what fully effaced is - and early labour can last a few days/week if that is what it is)
Good luck - hope the pain subsides and baby stays put for a little while longer....

Thanks all!
The pain and pressure has let up (more the pressure) since I’ve been lay down.
Going to take a bath and see how things are afterwards.
Thankyou for all your well wishes!

I was 3 cm with my first born for 2.5 weeks. They had me in every few days to check. Only when I got to 6cm did they keep me in. Good luck hun x
