Low PAPP-A of 0.27 MoM

Does anyone know what this means please?
I just received my combined screening test result which is low risk for abnormalities.
Another letter with it says I have a low PAPP-A level of 0.27 MoM.
The letter doesn’t say anything except I will be offered extra growth scans which will be organised at my 20 weeks scan.
I just googled this and the results are terrifying talking about late miscarriages, premature birth, stillbirth.
Please can someone who has been through this tell me what it actually means.
Many thanks in advance

My Papp-A was 0.27 mom too (hcg 0.6 iirc) low risk.
I had my perfectly healthy baby boy just over a week ago Smile
I was really worried when I first got the results and as it's a new area of research it seemed it could mean something (poor growth/placental function) or absolutely nothing...

I had a 'Doppler scan' at 23 weeks, this checked the blood flow through the placenta. And I had a growth scan at 34 weeks. All normal.

My son was born at 40+6, 9llbs.

Hope this allays some fears! Don't google too much (like I did!!Blush)

Oh that’s such a reassuring message cinamon thank you.
Congratulations on your new bundle of joys Flowers

I got more worried as my son was born at 37 weeks as he wasn’t moving and had an emergency section. I am now wondering whether it was to do with the placenta. Also he was small at birth.

It's growth hormone so scans is the right way to deal with it. It's also one of the DS markers but as you're low risk that's not a worry!

All you can do is eat well and look after yourself - try not to worry yourself as it is so likely to be fine! Step away from google

V glad I've found this thread! Had the same low PAPP A result with v little info from the community midwife team. It seems they genuinely don't know a whole lot about it. I'll also try to stay away from Google!

It honestly could mean anything or nothing! I had an extremely low Papp- A of 0.13. In my case baby Had to come a bit early at 36 weeks as growth slowed down towards the end. He was about 4 pound 11. He was completely healthy just teeny. He is now running around at 7 months and more then caught up with his peers in terms of weight.

A friend of mine has a similar low Papp A result and her baby came at full term at an average weight. Honestly try not to google too much as there’s so much that isn’t understood about PAPP A. I remember seeing my consultant and her saying that for the majority of women babies are born completely healthy. At most what they want to keep an eye on is placenta/cord functioning and baby weight.

Another low papp a here! I am 35 weeks and have had 4 growth scans. So far everything looks good and he is growing well. I freaked out too but try not too... they have just sometimes noticed and increased risk in growth issues linked to low papp...but this is a really loose connection and most of the time means nothing. I have seen many threads about this with lots of lovely ladies saying they have low papp a but with no adverse outcome. Take comfort that you will get extra monitoring

I had this with my first pregnancy - 0.21MoM. I had the NIPT and was very low risk for Down’s. I had growth scans every 4 weeks from 28w onwards. Apparently there is a correlation between low PAPP-A and IUGR, but only for a small percentage of women. In my case my son was born at 37+6 (spontaneous labour) already weighing 8lbs! No problems at all.

This time round they didn’t even test the PAPP-A!

I know it’s stressful but they will monitor you and it is highly likely nothing will be wrong Flowers

I also had low PAPP-A. We had extra growth scans, everything was fine. My daughter will be 1 next week!
