Faint Line 9 weeks

Hi

I found out i was pg at 4 weeks. The line was faint as expected. But i have 0 symptoms no sore boobs, tiredness, nausea etc

I mentioned this to midwife at booking at 9weeks and she ssid if id mentioned it earlier she could have given me a blood test.

Im so worried it could be an NMC or ectopic pg. The line at 9 weeks wasnt much stronger than 4 weeks.
.hospital would scan if i was having pain etc but have had no pain or bleeding.

Im worried but also think if anything is wrong then there isnt anything i can do to put it right. With first pg i had strong lines on text and constant sickness. I know every pg is different.

Anyone have exp of this?

Can anyone help

Have you done another test since? I can't help, but loads of women on MN have largely symptom free pregnancies, so you might just be one of the lucky ones.

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 22/11/2017 13:41

I did a test at 4 weeks and one at 9wks plus 5 days.

Thank you East Dulwich

I'm 40+3 And tbh if I did a test now it still wouldn't be much stronger than the one I took at 4/5 weeks. No idea why, just sometimes the body is a strange thing.

Hopefully for you everything turns out ok.

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 23/11/2017 22:42

Does anyone else know

Hi, I'm sorry you I don't know, but I've had a mmc before where my symptoms went. I just had a gut feeling something wasn't right so I decided to have an early private scan and sadly my instincts were right. Perhaps call epu or see if you can have a private scan to put your mind at ease. I've heard hcg does eventually lower once the placenta takes over so that may be it or your body is getting used to the hormones now? Hope you get an answer soon x

ruthieruthuk · 24/11/2017 04:56

Could u book an early scan put your mind at rest? Lots of places do them nowadays..

EPU don't usually scan oless there's an reason for it, bleeding or pain, etc..

Hope everything is alright for you x

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 24/11/2017 07:23

Hulabaloo thats what im afraid of. Im so sorry for your loss too. Did you have other symptoms.

Ive had no pg symptoms from day 1.

Triage will only scan if im in pain or bleeding. The midwife seemed to insinuate if i rang and said i was in pain id get a scan.

Part of me thinks tyeres nothing i can do

princesseggo · 24/11/2017 07:31

I had suffered a few losses and was really worried about a mmc again so i used Clearblue tests - the ones that tell you how many weeks you are.

For my first pregnancy despite being almost 8 weeks the test never went past 1-2 weeks. For my successful pregnancy it said 3+ weeks at the right time.
Don't quote me on this but I think it's something to do with the hormone levels in your wee.

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 24/11/2017 09:09

Yes it is and thats why im worried. As also thats what can cause nausea but know every pg is diff.

People have said it drops when placenta takes over but at 9 weeks that wouldnt quite be happening and id expect a stronger line. With my first born i got a faint line at 4 weeks then 3 or 4 days later a very strong line.

Im going to midwife on monday to discuss and hope she will do blood test as the hospital said they would have but i lentioned it too late but i was waiting for them to ask

When I saw my midwife at 8weeks booking in she told me not to do any more tests as the hcg would be dropping off from then.

My sil didn’t have a single symptom until her 2nd trimester, she was convinced that when she went for her 12wk scan that they were going to tell her she’d made it all up!

My best friend had every symptom under the sun but sadly lost her baby so I think you can put too much reliance on certain ‘signs’

If you have no pain & no bleeding then honestly that is the best ‘signs’ to have, as other posters have said a private scan is £60-80 and would put your mind at rest.

Hulaballoo · 24/11/2017 12:32

@TheRealHousewifeofCheshire I started having symptoms sore boobs but no nausea or anything. By 6 weeks boobs weren't sore on a daily basis... So I got worried.... At 7 weeks had a private scan and that when they found baby wasnt to be. X

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 24/11/2017 16:09

Thank you Scarlett your post makes a lot of sense. I dont know if i can afford a private scan. Especially if it wont change things.

Hullaballoo i am very sorry for you that must have been devestating. Thank you for sharing.

I am trying not to worry but it is constantly on my mind. Like i say though i am at midwife on mon and will ask for blood test.

Ps midwife at hospital asked when i last did a test. It went so dark quickly when i was last pg.

OP posts:
OuchBollocks · 24/11/2017 16:15

FWIW when I had a MMC my pregnancy tests were as dark as can be, they tested my hcg and it was at about 15000, and I had loads of symptoms, still throwing up after a scan showed the pregnancy had failed. So what you're experiencing doesn't sound like my experience of MMC necessarily, and I doubt its eptopic if you're at 9 weeks and not in agony. Fingers crossed you get answers soon and that they're the answers you're hoping for Flowers

Pandoraphile · 24/11/2017 16:15

Ring and tell them you're in pain?

OuchLegoHurts · 24/11/2017 16:22

I've just had a MMC and I had nausea and sore boobs at for the first few weeks and then the symptoms totally stopped. We found out at 11 weeks that the baby has stopped growing at 8 weeks. I had a strong line at 8 weeks when I went to the doctor and I also had some light bleeding at that stage. I feel that maybe the fact that you never had symptoms might be better than having them and then having them stop.

OuchLegoHurts · 24/11/2017 16:22

Yes tell them you're having cramping so that you get a scan to put your mind at ease

MaggieFS · 24/11/2017 16:36

Hi OP, sorry you're having an anxious time of it. As others have said HCG levels can drop from as early as 8 weeks so you can't read anything into the test. Also it's quite normal to have no symptoms.

I know it's hard not to be anxious but please try not to worry. Also if you don't genuinely have pains/cramps, I wouldn't make it up to try and get an early scan. It could affect some of the choices available to you when it comes to the birth if you've got a record of having had issues. (Not to mention waste of NHS time etc, but that's up to you).

Plenty of people have been exactly where you are and gone on to have gorgeous little babies.

Hang in there!

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 24/11/2017 23:47

Hi

Thanks for the advice. I haven't made anything up though and dont think i wpuld do that. As an aside i had an esrly scan last time and it didn't affect later choices.

Your wprds mean a lot ladies. I am so grateful for all your tesponses and sorry for what some of you have been through x

ScarlettInSpace · 25/11/2017 11:37

I think we all understand how worrying it can be - it took me 6+ years and countless medical interventions to get to where I am today (32 weeks now & on the final countdown!) and every time I’ve thought I have passed a milestone and can relax I get a couple of days grace then I start fretting again until the next one!

Have a little smile to yourself every night when you go to bed as that’s another day got through still hanging in there Wink

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 26/11/2017 07:55

Thank you Scarlet. I like your thinking. I will take that approach.

As i went to bed last night I did just that but then got awful stomach ache and this morning i had a loose movement if you know what i mean. But to be fair this is something that i used to suffer with pre og too. X

I spoke to MW this morning who said blood test would need to be repeated 48 hours. She said I should probably have a scan. Fingers crossed and breath firmly held. X

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 29/11/2017 19:21

Thank you. I have read on NHS that ectopic pg can have no symptoms. I am ok at work but the rest of tge time it is on my mind
