Vitamin B12 or folate deficiency anaemia

Hi,

I got a call from my midwife last night. She told me that she got the results back from the blood she took last week and it shows my vitamin B12 is low. She has asked me to come back next Tuesday to get some other bloods done and go from there. I’ve had a look on google but there’s nothing really coming up.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it anything to worry about?

Thanks

Yes, myself & daughter have Pernicious Anaemia & it sounds like you have a good midwife who has picked up on a deficiency, many medics dont & leave people untreated, which is where the problems lie.

It's easily treat with B12 injections & folic acid/folate supplements, but it's very important that you are treat as it will affect you & baby. I'm going to add a link that has all the good info in one place. Basically, if caught early & treat properly, it's reversible. Make sure they treat you properly.
