AIBU not to want to travel

Hi all, I am 7 weeks and have morning sickness all day long. I am also very tired and falling asleep throughout the day as well as going to bed early. Going in the car makes me constantly dry heave and so I struggle to travel to far atm. My other half wants us to go up north to see his brother and new baby which I was excited to do but I don’t think I can stand the 4 hour drive there then the 4 hours there and the 4 hour drive home. We can’t stay with brother as his girlfriend has enough going on without overnight guests. My other half is upset I am not keen to go but says he understands. AIBU and should I just suffer through it? P.s No one knows we are having a baby yet and so we also have a meal out to sit through when we get there. [sick] I have taken a weeks leave off work because I am feeling so rough.

YANBU - morning sickness is the pits. Stay at home and watch movies. Congratulations on the pregnancy!

Cars and transport always make my ms much worse. I'd possibly still go but would be vomiting out the door the whole way there and back but my ms is so bad that a day at home in bed is no better.

If you can get something out of staying home, then I'd do that!

I couldn't even put my dc to bed. I was I bed myself for 6pm. I don't blame you.

Thanks all - makes me feel better knowing other people are suffering too- going on a quick shop to try get some ginger biscuits and ginger ale! My sea bands are not working! So hopefully that does

I wouldn't drive 8 hours in a day for a quick visit even if I wasn't pregnant. That sounds a bit ridiculous. I think give it some time until you feel better and their baby is older and you can meet in the middle for lunch.

I can so understand you, Op! I love travelling but couldn't throughout my pregnancy as I had morning sickness over 20 weeks followed by getting very fussy with what I can eat due to some food tasting funny. It is not something you can control and your DH needs to understand that.

Just tell your OH to go on his own.

Is the train an option? Easier access to toilet too or at least an overnight at b&b before I'd consider it.

If you can't then you can't - be prepared to explain why not tho x

I needed to see this thread, thanks OP! DH sister has moved 3+ hours away and wants us to go and spend Xmas there. She wants us to stay a while and make it into a 'real holiday'. Aside from generally wanting to be home, the idea fills me with dread. I'm 16 weeks and had to stop and be sick on the side of the road on a 50 minute journey last weekend. I threw up this morning for no reason, I have to sleep with giant pillows and I NEED my own bed. DH isn't very happy with me not wanting to go, but I just want to be home. I want to enjoy my Xmas and it's just going to be horrible for me if we go.

Thanks Alexsmum I had a word with dp and he was very unhappy he ‘understands’ but he doesn’t want to drive all that way alone. I did suggest a hotel but because of issues with his mother (previously posted) we couldn’t stay nearby without staying with her but that would just make it even more tiring! Urgh I have no idea why they call it morning sickness! Dunno feel a bit pushed into going because dp totally doesn’t get how sick/tired I am feeling and thinks I am over reacting

Yuck, no way. I used.to need sick bags for the 15 minute drive to work, no way in hell would I be doing 8 hours in a day.
