If you had pre eclampsia...how did you feel

Hi all,

Not trying to diagnose myself or anything but i havent felt too great over the weekenr. I did a urinalysis in work...shows protien+1, keytones+3 and bilirubin (??) - ive a dullish headache..nothing too mad..i wouldnr be taking paracetamol or anything and no noticeable swelling...i work 12 hour shifts so on my feet all day.

Im drinking alot bit dont seem to be getting the same output and orange urine
Ive a doctor appaointment tomorrow but im (??)

Can anyone advise?

Forgot to say..my bp is 143/80...nothing major

I had severe eclampsia and felt fine. No headache but protein in urine and v high blood pressure. Felt fine tho

I had both preeclampsia and eclampsia, I felt totally fine with the pre, I was in a very bad way with actual eclampsia and in intensive care.

Call your midwife?

I had it and felt fine.

I felt fine too, got picked up on a routine check as BP was slightly up. I had quite a lot of swelling, feet, hands and face. If you’re at all worried get checked out.

I had it but it came on very suddenly. Felt awful in general, feet swelled up massively, heart palpitations and then like I was going to explode.

Went into hospital by car in middle of the night, wasn't allowed to get out and EMCS next day (doctor wanted to do it straight away but I wanted to try induced vaginal birth which did not happen).

I was really ill afterwards too - 9 days in hospital.

I had pre-eclampsia and felt fine.

I felt horrendous. Awful headache behind my eye, could barely walk (swollen feet) and horrible pain in my shoulder/upper back. Mine started at 40 weeks precisely, gave birth at 40+6. Thought it was just late pregnancy symptoms.

If you don’t feel great get an emergancy appt. no point delaying.

Aren't ketones in urine to do with diabetes?

Here's a quote from the Preeclampsia Foundation website:
A reading of trace protein is relatively common and is usually not a cause for concern. However, if the reading is 1+ or greater, it may signify the onset of preeclampsia, even if your blood pressure is below 140/90.

Fine at first, but very swollen. And then I got a sort of heartburn like pain at the top of my bump, and then a bad headache. When the headache and flashing lights hit it was like nothing I'd ever felt before.

If you think it might be pre eclampsia get checked. It can be severe and you still feel fine.

I got my bloods taken for it last week, my midwife said that my bloods came back ok, just my iron levels are low and she's given me some iron tablets. She said she was happy with the results but I keep getting slight lightheaded spells on one side near my eye. My midwife told me to keep an eye on blurred vision and headaches which I've not had.

Severe pre eclampsia and HELLP here. I felt absolutely fine. Protein in urine the day before was the only thing that made them test as my blood pressure was normal. Blood results came back positive for PE and I was told I was being induced there and then. I was in shock and couldn't get my head round it as I felt totally normal and the hospital staff were puzzled by the fact my BP wasn't raised. By the time I was on labour ward 15 minutes later my whole body just instantly swelled and my blood pressure was through the roof. The midwives were unsure if the sudden onset of my symptoms was a result of the shock (I was in tears and scared) or if this would have happened instantly if I'd been at home anyway. I was told afterwards I was incredibly lucky if it had gone undetected any longer myself and my baby may not have made it. I very rarely post on here but I always tell my experience on threads like this because I would never in a million years suspected I had PE. My community MW also said it was unlikely I had it but they would test to be on the safe side. If you have even the slightest worry you may have it then please get checked. If it hadn't been for my check up appointment (which funnily enough was just an extra app my MW fitted me in for due to my anxiety) i dread to think what could have happened.

I had hellp as well boringnamechange. So scary.

You need to see a midwife or Dr op. I felt fine but it all went downhill quite soon afterwards. Not wishing to scare you but any of those on their own need checking out, l together definitely do.

I felt costly fine but very swollen and breathless, didn't realise I'd fluid in my lungs, thought it was just baby squishing lung space. High bp, protein in urine, no headaches, no visual disturbances etc.

I was fine. Mw asked after taking my bp if I had any headaches, I said no. Dh reminded me I had loads, I'd put it down to my sinuses. So like frontal headaches, that's all.

Sidenote though, baby was small and not growing right (IUGR). That kind of gave it away.

I felt awful, huge swollen feet, lightheaded, tired, pain above and below my ribs, violently sick all of a sudden, awful heartburn!

When first diagnosed I was feeling fine. Did have swollen ankles but nothing else. Bp was raised at an appointment and protein in urine so I was kept in for monitoring for 2 nights and started on meds (am also diabetic so they were extra cautious). On the second night my blood pressure shot up and they had to triple the meds to get it back to normal. I felt terrible, headachey, sick and shakey and blurred vision. They started induction the next day but it didn't work and ds was born by emcs at 37+4.
I would get checked out, you have early signs and it could progress suddenly from here.

At thedoctors today...he didnt seem concerned at all. My blood ressure was down to 120 systolic too which is great!

I was moving house at the time so put down feeling exhausted and having a dull headache for days to the stress of it all. At the same time I gradually developed swollen feet and ankles and put on a lot of water weight - just put that down to having passed the 30 week mark and thought it was normal late in pregnancy. A few times when I stood up I got 'sparkles' in my vision and felt dizzy - silly me thought it was just being v pregnant and extremely stressed. I was massively overdoing things at work and with the move by anyone's standards, let alone a pregnant woman's standards so I just didn't twig!

Then one day I had to phone in sick with a horrific migraine. Luckily I had a midwife appointment that day too and I got sent straight to the Delivery Suite after she took my BP and urine. It would have been picked up a lot earlier if she hadn't failed to turn up for a home appointment, failed to even ring me back about it for over two weeks and then made my next appointment for a week after that! I didn't see anyone from 23 weeks until 32 weeks due to this error (I was low risk so few official checks).
