Not a lot! Blood pressure, urine dip. They don't even listen to the heartbeat until your 24 week appt here.

I'm 38 weeks and they've never listened to heartbeat x

I’m in Scotland and got to hear heartbeat at midwife at 16 weeks.

SweetheartTreacleTart · 20/11/2017 11:02

Mine was a group one. Had a tour of the birth centre, urine was taken along with blood pressure and at the end we could have a one-to-one with midwife if we felt we needed it. Overall a bit of a bland appointment.

Really depends on where you live I think. I'm in NE Scotland and the midwife didn't listen to the heartbeat until 24 weeks, it was just the usual urine dip and passed a few leaflets from what I can remember.

teabagfreak · 20/11/2017 11:21

I’m central Scotland and I had my 22wk midwife appointment last week and she listening to heartbeat again (as well as 16wk appt)

molifly · 20/11/2017 11:24

Nothing! blood pressure, urine sample, chat about nothing and then on your way. They don't even listen to the heart beat!

mindutopia · 20/11/2017 11:30

Like others have said, it's really quick. Just a few checks and asking how you are doing and answering any questions you might have. They should also bring the blood results from the blood at your booking they took to put in your notes, but any issues would have already been flagged with you by phone so there is nothing much to talk about. Like others have said, the guidance has changed and they aren't supposed to check heartbeat with a doppler at that appt, but they may offer it on the sly. Mine did because she had a student with her and she wanted the student to do the check. But she couldn't write it in the notes and told me not to tell anyone. It's pretty much standard for how all your appts will be from now on, which is pretty uneventful.

Definitely dependant on where you live.

I'm in Essex and mine was 15 mins. Gave me my blood test results, took a urine sample, booked me in for NHS Antenatal Classes and my next Midwife Appointment and then I was done.

They no longer listen to the heartbeat at the 16 week midwife appointment where I am.

Pennyfitzgerald91 · 20/11/2017 15:12

Hey, I have my 16 week app on the 28th. Check blood pressure, urine check. They did also check heartbeat with my first child. This is my second x

Alou88 · 20/11/2017 16:53

I had mine today, was there for half an hour and they were very thorough. Urine, bloods, BP. Reviewed scan results and current plans for birth. Booked other appointments, advice about antenatal classes and tours of the unit, then listened to the heartbeat

kelly14 · 20/11/2017 17:40

In in essex and had urine sample, listened to the heartbeat and few questions about how I was feeling. 10 mins max

PipsM · 20/11/2017 18:37

Had mine today. We discussed my blood results, how I was feeling, did urine test, blood pressure and heard the heartbeat (amazing!!!)!. I'm in West Sussex. Asked if I was planning on breastfeeding as well.
Oh, and she chased up my anti-d blood test that hasn't come through- joys of being rhesus negative.

laelti · 20/11/2017 18:45

Mine was urine test, general chat, recommended jabs, went over movements. No heartbeat check.

I also had bloods taken at mine as in my area they take fetal dna at 16weeks for rhesus negative mums (plus my iron levels were borderline at booking so they rechecked those). But I had been told about that via phone beforehand.

TheNewMrs · 20/11/2017 18:48

I'm north east and had mine last week - checked my urine, took bloods, discussed getting flu and whooping cough jabs, then listened to the heartbeat!

bettydraper31 · 20/11/2017 21:05

Had mine today and it was nice and thorough. Went through everything so far, blood pressure, urine etc. Listened to baby's heartbeat and got my bounty back. With my first daughter we lived in Surrey and they did the heartbeat there at 16 weeks too so been lucky both times x
