Growth scan

I have my first growth scan in the morning. I’ll be 27+3. Never had a letter send out, just a card with the times for my scans and consultant appointments so no info about whether I need to have a full bladder. Do I need to? Or is baby big enough now to see without? The risk of me weeing on the table is much greater now than at 20 weeks!!

I've had scans at 28 and 36 weeks to check growth. You won't need a full bladder as baby will be nice and big now, so much so you'll just see 'parts' on the screen.
They'll measure babies head, tummy and femur and use those measurements to estimate weight for you. It'll probably be plotted on a graph in your notes. Don't panic if they have to jiggle you about a bit to get the right measurements.... I think I had to go for a walk about and come back one of them as baby was in an awkward position! Smile

I agree I had growth scans from about 25 weeks on every few weeks and no need for a full bladder. I do remember in my first scan was "there's baby" and in last ones "there's an ear" it was strange seeing just parts of him instead if a full baby on the screen lol xx

Thanks Smile no one complained so I’m assuming a full bladder wasn’t needed! At least they don’t push the thingy down as hard now. Lovely to see baby again in so much detail Smile
