Induction vs ELCS

Hi everyone. So baby is measuring big. Really big! They had originally told me that i would need a C section as baby was breech too but in my last scan baby had turned so is now head down. When I spoke to the consultant she said as baby was no longer breech then a c section wasn't needed but they would induce me early at 38 weeks as baby is so large it may complicate delivery, plus there is more fluid around baby than they would like. They want to give me the pessary, but she also warned if it didn't work and they couldn't break my waters i would have to have an emergency c section.

I guess I'm wondering whether i just ask for an ELCS now as I'm within my rights to and it would be much calmer etc, or just wait and see if the pessary works and have a natural birth but take the risk of it being pretty horrific.

I genuinely don't know what to do, was just wondering if anyone had been through this or had any advice? Thank you!

My first was 10lb and got stuck with her head and then shoulders. This one is also measuring laaaaarge and I've decided to go for an elective- tomorrow 😍

I was induced unexpectedly at 39+2 (gestational hypertension). At 40+0 they finally accepted it had failed and I had an EMCS an hour later. If I could turn back time I would refuse the induction and go straight to the CS as that was by far the best bit!

Hope all goes well whichever route you choose OP!

mysecret - have a great day tomorrow Flowers

I have been induced twice, 42 weeks with 2nd which went great, my best labour out the 3 and then early with no.3 due to suspected PE.

I’m not sure if it was because baby wasn’t ready but it took 2 pessary’s this time round and was longest labour, still quite quick compared to some.

The girl next to me in induction room was induced same time as me and just had her baby as I was leaving the hospital and I was kept in few days.

Everyone will have different experiences with induction, good luck with whatever you choose OP

Thank you everyone! Sorry for late reply i lost everything on my stupid phone!

I think I am going for ELCS. I just don't think i could go through multiple pessaries, days of being in labour to then have a c section anyway knowing it could all have been so simple...

I really hope your csection went well!!! Hope you're enjoying cuddles with your new one as i speak! Xx
