Is this PGP?

33 weeks pg. if I sit/lie down for too long I get really stiff around my hip/groin area. Not shooting pains but it makes it really hard to walk without hobbling in a lot of pain. It tends to loosen off during the day and is worse in the evening or in bed at night. Going to ring the physio number my midwife gave me on Monday, just wondered if anyone thinks it’s specifically PGP or just general stiffness? This is my second pregnancy and I wasn’t in anywhere near this much pain the first time round.

My definitely doesn’t loosen off in the day...I get progressively worse as the day goes on. Not sure if that’s the case for everyone though as I have quite a severe case and have been on crutches since 18 weeks. Try the usually self help suggestions...pillow between knees when sleeping, sitting on a gym ball and gently rotate your hips, reduce amount of walking, etc. Your physio will be able to diagnose from feeling your pelvis. Hope you get some pain relief!

Doesn’t sound like PGP. Mine just felt like I’d been kicked in the pubic bone 😳 and standing on one leg to put socks on was agony

I don't know if it's PGP but I'm getting it too second time round. I get shooting pains from my hips and aching that I didn't get first time round sometimes so bad I can't move. Physiotherapy might be a good idea.

It sounds like it might be! Mine gets progressively worse throughout the day though. I do get the difficulty moving after sitting for any length of time.

The sign for me it was starting was when it felt like someone has stabbed me if I try to lift one leg up to put a sock on whilst standing.

Thanks everyone. I was getting shooting pains earlier in the pregnancy that the midwife thought might be sciatica but then it eased off. The gym ball is a good shout. I’ll see if DH can dig mine from last time out of the loft. Hopefully the physio will be able to suggest something. Not sure I can take another potential 9 weeks of this Sad xx
