Am I the only person who's completely obsessed with ticking nutritional boxes at the moment? I am only 4 1/2 weeks, and have lost interest in almost everything except whether I've had enough calcium. Tell me I'm not alone?

I was like this at the very beginning. I was trying to compensate for eating and drinking atrociously until my BFP so ate very healthily. Then when the all day sickness kicked in I went back to only being able to stomach junk food!

Jossiejump · 17/04/2007 13:13

Feel too poorly to do that-am eating a load of rubbish, if it's got high salt / fat then I want it ATTM!

skidaddle · 17/04/2007 14:02

Hi fleacircus - i was a bit like you first time round but I have to confess that this time I'm very laissez-faire about it. I do think you can take caution a bit too far and if you pop over to France or Spain, they will tell you it's fine to eat X but you shouldn't touch Y so I tend to think stay away from rotten eggs and the like but otherwise just eat fresh food, relax and be happy!

fleacircus · 17/04/2007 14:40

Think maybe I'm paranoid because I conceived while on holiday in Spain; had been really good since we started TTC but on that holiday just let everything slide, ate and drank whatever I fancied, caught a tummy bug (possibly viral rather than food-related though as DP and I were eating almost exactly the same things and he got the same symptoms but three days later). I'm still a bit anxious about whether that bug will have had a negative effect and also am a control freak by nature - and at this point food is the only thing I have any control over!

I know flea, it's so wierd having no control over your body, isn;t it? I remember that freaked the sh1t out of me first time round.

Anyway you are only doing yourself good so don;t feel bad about it - lucky baby getting all those minerals (mine seems to get a lot of chocolate . And try not to worry about the tummy bug - I know it's a cliche but there's nothing you can do about it so best to be positive and I'm sure there is nothing wrong.

Nbg · 17/04/2007 16:32

I'm a big believer in that if your craving something, your body needs whatever is in the food.

I have had sickness for the last week or so and the other day all I wanted was chicken curry and chips. As soon as I ate it I felt ok

skidaddle · 17/04/2007 16:36

ooh nbg, I'll take that as a green light for more chocolate tonight

JARM · 17/04/2007 16:38

im craving something REALLY bad right now..... a kebab!

I dont know where my nearest kebab shop is as havent had one for years!

Otherwise, im living on toast, cereal and cheese and coleslaw sandwiches!

fleacircus · 17/04/2007 17:35

JARM, you should have one! Kebabs are pretty healthy anyway - grilled meat, bread and salad, what's not to like? Mmmm... now just thinking about kebabs... Have in fact been eating lots of lovely Belgian chocs that DP brought me, as well as the healthy stuff, not nearly as virtuous as I made myself sound in the OP!

Have just been talking about kebabs.

Tonight I'm having my 3rd chinese in a week
Quarter of duck with pancakes and spring rolls

JARM · 17/04/2007 17:39

im talking a proper doner kebab - cant wait to find a shop that sells one!

Pizza here tonight to satisfy hunger only - but can see me driving around at 9pm tonight looking for a kebab shop!

JARM · 17/04/2007 17:39

NBG - Dh wanted chinese - im not in the mood - maybe at the weekend!

Jbck · 17/04/2007 18:11

Chicken tikka kebab last weekend & I felt fantastic, so much so that I've wanted another every day since. I'm holding off because we're going for a lovely meal on Friday to Chinese/Japanese/Thai fusion place. Hoping my mid-afternnon bout of nausea holds off that day.

fleacircus · 18/04/2007 16:54

Yum, Chinese... Duck = iron = nothing but virtue, surely? I'm making fajitas (or fanjitas as they're called in our house ) for dinner tonight, have been thinking about them all day. This thread has done nothing to reduce my food obsession, I must admit!

I wish I had been like that but I went on a carb bender both times, 2 healthy babies though.

JARM · 18/04/2007 16:59

im having roast pork with the trimmings tonight - not really fancying it yet, but might do when its tea time!

Still want my greasy doner kebab tho!

mad4girls · 18/04/2007 18:59
