Long or short sleeved vests

My baby is due end of January so it will be pretty cold. I still haven't bought much in the way of clothes. I can't decide if I need longsleeved vests to be warmer or short sleeved as they go under the baby grow better. Anyone had a winter baby and got a good suggestion?

We did short sleeves vests, long sleeved onesies and cardigans over.

I’m doing long sleeve vests at night as we like our room quite cold at night or OH gets migraines.

I found short sleeve vests much easier. Trying to get long sleeved tops/babygros over long sleeves on a wriggly baby was a nightmare!

I'd say more short sleeved than longsleeved. It's useful to have a few longsleeved ones for particularly cold days or at night time. Other than that I did short sleeved vest, sleep suit and then cardigan (if necessary)

If you're in the UK, definitely long. We did long sleeved vests under babygros and then a 2.5 tog sleeping bag at night. Our house is about 18C.

Short but do have some long for under dungaree or a short sleeve top when baby is bit bigger and in proper clothes

My baby due Feb. She’s got quite a few long sleeve vests to wear with little jogging bottoms or leggings with cardigans and now I’ve read this thread I’ve realised she’ll need short sleeve vests for under sleepsuits and baby grows!

I had this confusion in a big way! Now I have had three weeks with my first baby, I can strongly advise that you need lots of two things:

Plain sleeveless vests (these go under everything)

Sleep suits

Plus nicer long sleeved vests for daytime (I put these on with a short sleeved vest underneath and a pair of trousers)

But honestly- get a LOT of short vests, you'll need them
