How many weeks?

Is there any way I can accurately find out how many weeks pregnant I am? I have done a clear blue date test but it just says 3+ which could be anything from 3-8!
I have a ‘booking in appoiment’ on Monday but it’s driving me mad, any ideas? And will the midwife be able to tell me Monday or will I have to wait for a date scan Smile thanks!!

When was your last period? Mw will date from that.

Babybear1117 · 16/11/2017 08:15

@evilcleverdog that’s the issue I can’t remember! I had some spotting on holiday mid September but that was it haven’t had one since. Was on the pill before that so I never used to keep exact track as my week break I always came on. It’s my own fault for not realising straight away but we are both now feeling so impatient and want to know haha!

In that case you could be offered an early scan. The same happened to me - I could have been 6 or 10 weeks at booking appointment and was given a scan which showed I was 8+3. It’s important you have your 12 week scan before 14 weeks as they won’t be able to do the NT measurement otherwise. I would ask the midwife to book this, she should be able to do so at the first appointment or you could call the epau at the hospital as some trusts accept self referrals. Good luck!

@evilcleverdog oh that’s great thank you for your help!

@evilcleverdog sorry I sent that too soon!
That’s great thankyou for your help and advice I will speak to the midwife Monday and see what happens from there! I’m going away with my mum next weekend and sharing a room was hoping to tell her before so she knows why I’m not fighting my way through the crowds as usual/not drinking/ not eating properly/constantly feeling sick hahaa! Although she’ll probably guess after spending two days straight with me Grin

If the spotting in Sept was your last period and you ovulated 2 weeks later, you’ll be 9 weeks. If the spotting was implantation or just spotting and you were already pregnant, then you’ll be 12 weeks +.

I think the nuchal scan needs to be done before 14 weeks at the very latest as Evil says. Alternatively, you could pay privately for Harmony or Panorama which is better and more accurate but costs a bit too.

CL1982 · 16/11/2017 08:59

Oh gosh Yays! I would ring the midwife asap and get that scan in :)

EvilCleverDog · 16/11/2017 09:41

If you’re 12 weeks the mw could possibly be able to tell just by feeling your tummy. Either way you should have a scan ASAP as you don’t want to miss the window for NT measuring.

If it will put your mind at ease, you could book a private scan? I can recommend window to the womb (I had a 4d scan with them) - they do same day appointments for around £70. But I would ring the hospital first to see if they can help.

Olivetappas · 16/11/2017 09:51

Spotting could be implantation spotting. I did. A clear blue prediction and the prediction was wrong!
Best bet is to have a scan, if you tell your dr you don't know how far you are they should book you in for a scan asap

TonicAndTonic · 16/11/2017 10:57

Agree that you need a scan. I knew the exact date of my last period, so had a scan at 12+1 based on that, scan dated me at 13+3! The due date from your 12 week scan measurements is the one they use to schedule all your subsequent appointments, not the one from the MW.

Babybear1117 · 16/11/2017 11:59

@jojosm2 @cl1982 @evilcleverdog @olivetappas @tonicandtonic thank you for all your replies! Do you think I should wait for my booking in appointment on Monday or ring to organise one sooner? Thanks x
