VBAC - do they give you an epidural?

Am preg with second child - first child was C-section due to him being breach. But he was quite a big baby - 8lbs 12, so am very nervous about how big second will be (am only 11 wks at mo). I think I would like to try VBAC as I want to be able to move around and be with DS1 when DC2 is born, even though I recovered ex quickly and well after first section. But, am concerned I will tear due to size and also wondered if I would be offered an epidural or not if the midwives wanted me to be aware of any problems that may arise due to the c-section scar (hope that makes sense!)

Epidural not always recommended for VBAC for 2 reasons...it can mask the pain of any possible problems occuring re the scar

it stops you being mobile, and being able to be mobile in labour is a great way to help acheive a VBAC

if you search the archives, there is lots of good info about VBAC

congratulations on your pregnancy

Bear in mind, second babies are not always bigger!
