Sure its from baby's head to its bottom or feet or something

EarlGreyT · 15/11/2017 15:58

It’s vertically from the pubic bone to the top (fundus) of the uterus as anutteridiot describes.

CinnamonAndSpice · 15/11/2017 16:52

Thanks so roughly how does it work. 1cm = 1 week? Roughly where is the top of uterus.. Belly button / higher?
May be being dim but like I say never had any of this before
Have midwife next week so just curious

Vertical from under boobs to pubic bone. Apparently cm correspond to number of weeks.

Brill thanks

The height of the top of the uterus will change the further into your pregnancy you get. The midwife will be able to tell you where it is and show you how to feel for it yourself.

Don’t try to measure your own bump, you could cause yourself unnecessary worry.

The top of the uterus is just that, at the top of your uterus. It moves and changes and it's found by palpation. So she'll have a feel for it. But they only really do it from about 28 weeks as there's no point before then.

CinnamonAndSpice · 15/11/2017 18:27

I don't plan on measuring myself :) x
Just Purley curiosity that's all. Thanks for your replies xx
