Can dates be wrong?? 34 weeks measuring 38.

Just as the title suggests.

I suffered a miscarriage the month or so before my positive pregnancy test back in March. Never really had a proper period and explained this to my midwife. Since then scans etc the baby has always measured big. 3-4 weeks ahead. I've had many scans due to age and complications. Would they be able to tell on scans or is it all just worked back to last period??

You should have been given firm dates at your 12 week scan. Whatever dates those were should have replaced your lmp dates and that's what they should go by thereafter. It is possible to measure 38 weeks at 34 weeks, but still be only 34 weeks. It just means you're having a big baby (or if they are measuring just your bump, it means you could have extra fluid but baby is a normal size). If at 12 weeks though, you measured 16 then yes, it should have been assumed that you were 16 weeks and your dates amended then. A 16 week baby and a 12 week one look very different so no way they could have confused the two. Do you have your report from your 12 week scan? It should be in your notes. What gestation do they give you there?

Maybe you miscarried a twin?

My original date from the midwife was moved slightly forward at the 12 week scan but just by a week. So this date is definitive?? Or as much as it can be? I just feel like I'm going crazy.

The date at your 12 weeks scan will be the most accurate. At 12 weeks a scan could be a few days out but it’s impossible for it to be 3-4 weeks out. For example crown rump length at 12 weeks would measure about 57mm and at 14 weeks would be about 81mm which is a massive difference

I've measured 4 weeks ahead every time I'm now 37 weeks and still no baby x
