Labour - is it EVER going to happen??

Anyone else in the same boat? :(

Due date on Friday; have had 2 sweeps 24 hours apart, first one on Monday.

Had a bloody show on Tuesday pm, lost plug in the evening, the had 2.5 hours of mild but regular contractions!

Now - nothing. No contractions, barely any plug, no blood, no cramps apart from the very occasional BH style ones. Hormones raging, exhausted, can't sleep at night.

Anyone else feel like they just aren't going to ever give birth?! I'm fed up of staring at his little empty cot after my lovely little DD goes to bed, I just want to hold him :(

I'm only 34 weeks so not yet but my friend had similar to you.. lots of sweeps lost plug and even dialated but no baby. She was induced in the end and had a stressful birth
Maybe they are just too comfortable to come out!
I hope things get moving for you soon have you tried anything at home to get things going? Birthing ball, curry and stuff

That's a shame to hear about your friend! This is my second labour and DD came at 4 days overdue with labour starting at 40 +3 - I was sure this one would come a little earlier and so since I've been having signs I thought it was a sure thing!

Am trying every old wive's tale I know of; also DTD this morning and had a long lavender bath, now having mild constant period type pains but am trying not to get my hopes up (again!)

Hopefully baby gets a move on and comes out. This is my first I think I'd hate to be overdue I'm impatient already haha

Im 38+4 and going insane. I can't fall asleep until 3-4 in the morning, appetite is up and down, im grumpy, but had no show, tiny bit of plug come away last week but that's it. Literally nothing else. And I can't even tell if the baby has dropped because ive not been paying attention to how my bump sits.
I think I'm even more frustrated because my parents were both born early and so were me and my siblings. Im so dine with the pregnancy I really am.

No sign of anything still! Had a long nap while DH was watching DD and the pain was gone when I woke up

@DeadDoorpost the 38 week mark was when it got unbearable for me too, I feel your pain! I kind of wish they hadn't given me the sweeps before due date now, as I'm sure my bloody show/plug loss is just down to that rather than impending labour. They did say I was 2cm dilated already though!

Does anyone else get friggin convincing symptoms of labour every evening?? Every night around 8pm I convince myself this is it this time as I get crampy and restless, even on off contractions.

Ah well, due date is tomorrow, cmon little baby I selfishly don't want him to be born on the 11th though as Remembrance Day is quite a sombre occasion; I'm convinced it's going to happen though

Am 38+4 with first, was convinced a few nights ago that things were starting as I had quite intense period like pain, bm and vomiting, as well as tightenings in my bump. This was intense enough that I maybe had a collective 2 hours sleep in 10-15 min bursts - pain was worse when lying down, so would sit up to try and ease it and was nodding off while sitting up

It all seemed to taper off by afternoon and now only feeling the odd twinge every now and then...

Frustrated as I was getting excited...

Nerdy it is so frustrating isn't it, I had another sweep last night (had to go in for reduced FM) and was in a lot of pain when lying down, convinced she's started my contractions and trying my best to just sleep through them. Once again they are waning, ergh.

Have an induction booked ASAP now though due to my anxiety over his movement, so am just going to relax and wait til Sunday now :) Or continue symptom spotting to see if I go into labour in the mean time

Following with interest because I keep getting excited thinking this is it and then nothing...

@CherriesInTheSnow So frustrating! Was just in costco and started having a cramping feeling again but again, it’s died off

Good luck with your induction, try not to drive yourself too mad with symptom spotting!

My due date isn’t till Monday but for the past week I’ve been convinced it’ll be “today”. Driving myself insane I think. I feel so full and uncomfortable. I can’t recall what contractions feel like so every odd twinge make me think.
I feel for you. Just want it over with.

And it’s my birthday tomorrow and I never feel sad to have a Poppy Day birthday.

Cherries I'm convinced I won't realise I'm in labour. DH and I keep joking I'll just be sat there in the birthing pool filling out word puzzles as if nothing is happening. If that actually happens then I'm never going to believe a word anyone says to me again about pregnancy. Nothing seems to have happened like they've said so far.

(Obviously I seriously doubt it'll be pain free naturally but I know a woman who honestly had no labour pains at all. So it is possible)

HAhah Dead that's what I thought! I thought I'd be breathing my way serenely through contractions until 8cm or so; it didn't go quite according to my plan

timing how far along are you? Something weird happened for me this time; I thought it was absolutely flying by from week 28 - 38 and then everything just ground to a halt - I now still feel like I've been pregnant forever

Actually have loads to do today now so am really hoping labour doesn't all kick off now! Am having pains but that seems to be par for course by this point; it happened around Tesco yesterday too, but nothing.. The midwife scared me yesterday and told me to expect 3 days of induction, but could be more. Is that for real??

Oh Dead yes I forgot to say my aunt apparently didn't feel contractions at all and only needed G&A during the pushing stage!! How do these women get so lucky!

38+2 here, getting the occasional cramp but have been for days so I'm not convinced they're baby related at all. Feeling like I've been pregnant FOREVER and so ready to just be done with it now.

I have had 2 go overdue after first was a few days early. DD2 was 10 days over but I did go into labour. DS had to be forcibly evicted at 13 days overdue! I don't think he was planning on going anywhere. My poor gran said she was 4 weeks overdue with my mum when she had her in the 40's.

Even though DS was induced I still had a natural labour - it was more intense and faster than the girls once it got going.

My induction was not 3 days!! I had a gel pessary at 8 am in the morning. Absolutely nothing happened all morning. We did about 3 laps of the hospital grounds - had lunch then I went for a lie down while DH went home for a couple of hours. By the time he got back at 15:00 everything had kicked off and DS was born at 16:30.

Thanks so much Spam that is so reassuring to here, it would be an absolute nightmare to be in that long; DD is only 2 and am feeling really sad at the thought of leaving her for days!

Apparently my bishop score was only 3 on Thursday night so am a little bit worried, however I have had 3 more days and also the MW thought I was less dilated/effaced than the consultant did a couple of days before, so hopefully it won't be so bad. Getting pretty nervous now, can't believe it's tomorrow after all this waiting
