Section nerves

I have due to have an elective section this Friday and I am so nervous.

I had a section three years ago due to my son being breech and fairly large.

I ended up in HDU as my womb collapsed and I lost a fair amount of blood (not enough for a blood transfusion thankfully).

I know it’s probably normal to feel like this but I’m so scared and even more so now I have my son to think about.

Not sure what I’m after really just needed to write it down

Hello just wondering if you’re able to talk to a midwife about this at all? I was in a similar position last week. Had a huge blood lost after my last one and was worrying about this time going badly. I visited the labour ward with the senior midwife and she talked through how they were planning on managing the risks was really helpful in preparing me mentally.

It all went pretty well in the end we have a lovely baby and we were discharged the same day.

I think I may have left it a bit late for that tbh but I will mention my concerns on Friday morning. I know it’s normal and I think I was probably the same last time but I guess I know what’s coming this time (procedure and recovery) whereas I was in the dark last time.

I kind of just want it over and done with. This is why I’ve opted for an elective as the thought of attempting vaginal delivery and then having an emergency section will just stress me out even more and play havoc with my anxiety about it.

I’m sure it will all be fine and I have kind of spoken about it with the consultant and doctors I guess as it’s getting closer it’s just becoming more real.

I’ve also been in slight denial that I am having a second child and starting to panic how I will cope but that’s probably another thread!
