Would you holiday at 29weeks?

Need help deciding what to do. We had a holiday in the silli isles booked before BFP but I'll be 28/29 weeks pregnant by then. Would you still go?

I would go if your pregnancy is low-risk, just make sure your travel insurance covers you while pregnant. I went to Lanzarote at 33 weeks and it was lovely to have 1 final baby free holiday .

I drove back from Spain at 37 weeks!! Nice brown bump from weeks on a bikini!!

Planning a weekend away to Amsterdam for my bday in Feb, I'll be 30w then. I'm waiting for my 20w appoitment, and as piraterach has said I'll have my insurance that covers me in case of any medical emergency.
It really depends on how you are feeling, I was in pain a few days ago so I'd have said no way, but now Im feeling better so I'd say why not!

How far along are you now?

I could barely walk from 20 weeks with pelvic girdle pain so I wouldn’t have wanted to be going on holiday.

I went to Milan at 26 weeks and was absolutely fine, one of the best holidays I've had! Took it easier than normal and took time to rest, but totally fine and a great time!

I'm only 6 weeks now 1st pregnancy. I've no idea how I'll be doing by then. Thanks for the responses - it's good to know its not a definite no. Checked with travel insurance and covered so I guess I'll just wait and see how I feel nearer the time :)

Yes, I would, assuming all is fine and there are no concerns from your midwives. I'm planning a few nights away (alone, not even with my dh) several hours drive from home (driving myself) at 30/31 weeks. I had a low risk pregnancy with my first and we definitely went away around this time then to visit family (again, a few hours drive from home, though I didn't drive). The only issue was that I had SPD and was sore and couldn't do much walking. I remember hobbling around a field trying to take a walk with BIL/SIL. So you may just be sore and tired and need to do plenty of resting and relaxing rather than anything too active.

Scilly isles in March if I've worked it out right? You'll have a lot of rain or sun depending on how it goes. It's beautiful there though but horribly dreary if it's been raining non-stop since December i live in Cornwall so totally not frustrated with the weather we get here nope make sure you've got a good warm waterproof coat with you just in case.

For sure I'd still go. Wouldn't think twice. I was in Russia for a week at 22 weeks and Rome last week at 29 weeks. As long as you've no complications you might as well go and enjoy yourself.

At 24 weeks I was fine and had a lovely holiday in Kos. By 28 weeks I was in ADU everyday with high blood pressure, having never had any previous health problems. Saying that it's nice to enjoy some breaks before baby arrives and you're not going miles.

Thanks @DeadDoorpost after your calculations I've realised my calculation was way out!! I'll actually be more like 33weeks. Bloody hell that's maybe too far along for a holiday...What do you think ladies?

Meh, you can fly till 37 weeks. You're not really any more likely to have premature labour at 29 weeks or 33weeks, there's always that risk. But there's also hospitals everywhere. Worst case is that you get stuck there till baby can be discharged after premature labour but it's a small risk and one I'd be willing to take.

I went on a canal boat for a week at 37 weeks! Just took my hopsital bag just in case!

Yes, I did. Had a lovely chilled week in Ibiza at 30 weeks. I did get swollen legs on the flight home though which I've never had before or since, other than that it was fine.

Everyone is different. I'm 30 weeks and just about made it round B&Q earlier. I get easily tired now.

I went on holiday at 34 weeks with DD1 and 35 weeks with DD2 (with DD1 who was 18 months at the time). No issues at all.

Are you flying or going by ferry? The ferry trip out to the Scillies can be rough and I have heard of women going into premature labour in rough seas. The flight is hairy enough (I've done it in high winds and it is a tiny plane) but should be ok.

It is not as if you are leaving the UK. I think it would probably be fine. I was climbing mountains at 29 weeks with my first but then, that is my thing. I can imagine others wouldn't think that all that sensible.

I'm going to Prague at 29 weeks and to Ireland at 32 weeks (family Christmas). Should be good, but I still need to sort travel insurance out.

I'm booked in for a holiday at 30 weeks! Will take a fit to fly letter from GP or midwife, and I have top level insurance too.

Yes, we went to Malta when I was about 30 weeks and it was lovely. Assuming you're low risk there's no reason you shouldn't travel.

I went away with my first at 36 weeks for a week was lovely having a week to relax, gentle walks and completely zone out before coming back and getting into baby zone and have that last bit of alone time with hubby before baby! Was great and an absolute must do if you can I think! Also gave us time to really sit and talk about names and things!

Thanks ladies! We are flying the ferry sounds terrible! Sounds like I'll keep the plan to just go for it unless anything dramatically changes. Unfortunately I don't know how much alone time we'll get since we are holidaying with the in laws :( but I'm sure they'll be off on boat trips that I'll be just too tiered to handle - what a shame
