I know there's been threads like this before but I'm getting fed up of people telling me I am big. Just had a chat with one of the grans on the school pick up she said, "my friends daughter is due in December too but she's a much smaller frame than you, your a big girl' I'm tall with a big baby bump.

Why do people say these things!! That's really annoyed me lol

I hate that. I got it a lot from my in laws. It's like people thunk just because your pregnant you are fair game for bailed insults

One lady said oh I can tell your pregnant just from looking at your cheeks.

One asked me sarcastically if I was having twins as I looked so big!

My favourite was "you don't look pregnant, you just look like a plump lady..." In what world would I prefer to look fat rather than pregnant. Lucky it was my DH who said it, so he just got a slap and we laughed about it.

On the opposite side "oh, you're so small for X amount of weeks"

Makes me feel like I'm not baking this baby good enough 😧

Yes, I don't know why some people think they have a licence to make personal remarks whenever they see a pregnant woman!

Someone (a stranger) once asked me whether I was sure (!) That I was 35 weeks pregnant as I was so small, and when I said yes, asked if the baby was growing properly! What kind of question is that?! As it happened, he was growing just fine, but what if he hadn't been? I couldn't believe anyone would be that insensitive!

I've had both of these comments on the same day!

At about 20 weeks I had, "it's nice that it's starting to look like a proper baby bump now, not just like you've put weight on round your middle"

Omg, I've found pregnancy really hard in that sense. I'm small naturally so it's like people have enjoyed telling me I'm big or my face has got bigger, and even a close friend literally saying your so fat! It's not nice, especially in our heightened emotional state! I would have thought people would know better! 😂

It’s so subjective.

People who haven’t had children think I’m huge, fellow mums think I’m tiny, MW measurements say I am exactly the right size!

I've got 2 friend who every time they see me they both say "I swear every time I see you you look bigger" well no!!!! Every time you see me I AM bigger because the baby's growing but thanks for making me feel huge.
The only consolation I have is that I weigh less than when I got pregnant so this is definitely baby in here and not excess fat.

Do you know what I think every time I see this topic. How conveniently pregnant women ignore how bloody nice people are to you just because you're pregnant. How many concessions you get daily for being pregnant. All the lovely smiles and 'after you's' that happen and all the extra nice things and goodwill from complete strangers.

But no, let's focus on the negative when actually people are just talking about your pregnancy. Somewhat clumsily at times.

Well I'm measuring fine, people comment on what a small bump I've got (33 weeks) and tbh most people don't know I'm pregnant until I tell them so... no one has opened any doors for me or given up their seat or anything 'nice' so that doesn't always happen either

I'm quite fat normally anyway but have lost weight during pregnancy and my bump is actually quite neat. I've lost count of the number of people who've expressed surprise at this, or told me they thought I would be huge.

@Ilovelampandchair I've not had any of those things. No smiles, no 'after you's no 'would you like a seat?' When I clearly do need one. I get a lot of disgusted/weird looks from strangers for no reason.
And it's made worse by the comments. It's been a tough pregnancy as it is. I don't need to feel judged by others.

@deaddoorpost yeah I'm with you on that one! i try and just brush the comments off but that one today really got to me. Just plain rude!!!

People don't think, I suppose I try and not take it to heart but when your hearing it constantly it gets rather annoying. Why do they do oh your getting big though? Of course we are, we have a little human growing inside us! 🙄

A slap 😂 It's when it's from random people you don't know. I wouldn't dream of saying anything like that to a random pregnant person. @lilonetwothree

A lighthearted one from my boyfriend: apparently since I've put weight on my legs (39 weeks preggo), it makes my feet look smaller ( I have huge flippers )

Someone asked if I had magically grown a twin since the last time I'd seen him - a week previously - because I'd suddenly gotten so huge.

I walked away crying from that comment.

@ownedbyswd people don't think at all!! Just try and take it with a pinch of salt very difficult at times though.

I'm huge this time. People all say 'you're huuuuge'. I laugh and say 'I know'. Because I'm huge.

They're talking about my temporary bump. I take zero offence.

I had a good one today, from a female colleague: "Is it supposed to be that big?"

I mean, what do you say to that?? I'm measuring bang on, so... yes? Not offended, but bemused, really.

I'm fine now, but I did gain way too much weight in that pregnancy; I had gotten pregnant immediately after a miscarriage and I was a mess mentally. Ate way too much chocolate in a misguided attempt at numbing my feelings.

Sorry for dampening the mood! I'm honestly fine now. :)

I have received the following:

‘Oh wow, you’ve grown’ (...all the time, while leaning in for a pat)
‘You can tell it’s a boy because it’s all up the front’
‘You can tell it’s a girl as it’s all carried at the back’ (assume that means big arse).

Why can’t people just not comment. At all. I love the conversations, where the pregnancy is just not mentioned!

Oh I've had the comment about the bump being all out the front today too by the same person. Also had oh I see you can still fit in your jacket.....🙄

I just don't understand why things like this bother people. I couldn't care less what people say to me about my body/bump/cheeks etc. If they say something daft I just laugh at them.
