If your LMP was 14th of August then you are 12 weeks today. Who told you you were 10+3? Conception will have been roughly 28th of August give or take a few days either side.

HumpHumpWhale · 06/11/2017 14:17

Those numbers don't quite add up. If your lmp was 12 weeks ago you should be 12 weeks pregnant- even though you would have conceived about 10 weeks ago, so end of August - pregnancy is counted from day one of LMP in the UK. Where does the 10+3 figure come from?

Bammy21 · 06/11/2017 14:21

Hi I went for my 12 week scan today to be told I'm 10 week 3 days

If you have irregular periods the scan date is most accurate by 12 weeks instead of lmp. Your due date will be set by your scan measurements even if it is different from your lmp. I had irregular periods and my scan measurements meant the baby was older than by my lmp date iyswim. It's difficult to pinpoint ovulation anyway because in the right conditions, sperm can live several days awaiting an egg.

You conceived around the 8th of September

Bammy21 · 06/11/2017 14:26

Oh right . So would I minus two week from 10+3 ( 8+3) to get a rough idea of conception ?

Thank you ! How do you work this out just so I know ?

BatteredBreadedOrSouthernFried · 06/11/2017 14:28

Yes that’s right, take two weeks off and will give you a rough idea of conception date.

Bammy21 · 06/11/2017 14:29

Thank you 😊!

You just count the weeks from the FIRST day of your last period. However if you had a scan at 12 weeks then use the dates they’ve gave you at it because it will be more accurate.

Bammy21 · 06/11/2017 14:45

So would the 24th September have been too late to conceive then ?

OP posts:
BatteredBreadedOrSouthernFried · 06/11/2017 14:49

No the 24th sounds about right for conception date using 8+3 weeks ago. It was 8+1 weeks ago if that makes sense.

Bammy21 · 06/11/2017 14:52

But 8+ 3 week ago would be the 8th September ? So confused . The 24th would be 6+1 making me only 8 week when I'm 10 week 🙈🙈🙈 sorry to be a pest

BatteredBreadedOrSouthernFried · 06/11/2017 14:55

OH sorry!! Yes my silly google calendar was confusing me. Yes the 24th will have been too late.

Bammy21 · 06/11/2017 14:56

😂 thank you it's ok I just keep going over it in my head for no reason 😂

If your cycle is irregular the LMP date can be quite a bit off. I missed a period completely before conceiving my son - the LMP date was 4 weeks before the date by scan, and he was still a week overdue by the scan date! If your scan says 10+3 then go with that and you then conceived 8 weeks and 3 days ago.

BabyDreams2018 · 06/11/2017 16:29

How sure are you of your LMP date? Are they calling you back for another scan in a week or so? If your periods were irregular you may have ovulated at a different time in your cycle.

It's so confusing isn't it!! I am in the same predicament.
