Hi all,

Have come down with a lovely cold and I am the worst patient ever. Does anyone have any good advise on how to clear a cold.

Thanks x

Bowl of boiling water and a few drops of olbas oil
Honey and lemon and hot water
Plenty of vitamin C and water

If there was an answer no one would ever suffer with a cold! Paracetamol is the only medication while pregnant. Lots of rest, fluids, steam, food.

Rest, drink plenty and ride it out. Oh and paracetamol as that's all you can take while pregnant.

I'm in the same boat but read not to use olbas oil or vapour rub when pregnant... I'm having honey/lemon hot drink, bowl of hot water just to stream on its own, plenty of garlic and onions, citrus fruit, kiwis, strawberries... Lockets, and tunes are ok too. Feel better soon x

Hot water with manuka honey and cider vinegar. 3-4 times daily. Most effective when started as soon as you feel a cold/sore throat coming on.

Saline nasal spray is very effective for a blocked nose - stérimar is good. Otherwise paracetamol, fluids, and rest.

I thought we couldn’t take lockets/tunes when pregnant?

Loosemoose28 · 05/11/2017 21:15

Lockets are fine

Loosemoose28 · 05/11/2017 21:17

Mine is lingering.

Ginger and lemon tea with manuka was my saviour lived on it last week although makes a very expensive cup of tea.

And hot ribena.

It's only the ones that have added menthol/decongestant like some of the strepsils out there.

Hotpinkangel19 · 05/11/2017 21:39

I’m buying lockets tomorrow! Thanks!

Loosemoose28 · 06/11/2017 00:10

Lockets do contain menthol but in a tiny amount. Was reassured by midwife they were fine x
