i would call labour ward, as speckles in front of your eyes, swelling, and high BP, can indicate pre eclampsia

please give them a call now , to be on the safe side

nikie1 · 15/04/2007 21:04

but i have the hospital tomorrow should i not wait untill then?

IMHO, no

not meaning to scare you, but swelling, protein, high BP and visual disturbances are indicators of PE , and polyhadramnios can make you high risk too,so worth a call now x

Snaf · 15/04/2007 21:22

As usual, lulu got there before me

Nikie, please call the labour ward if you have not already done so. The symptoms you describe are highly indicative of pre-eclampsia, so you need to get get checked out.

Sorry if this sounds a bit scaremonger-y but better to be safe than sorry with things like this.

Hang on - I'm only a second-year!

lulumama · 15/04/2007 22:06

more medical than me

anyhoo, nikie1, hope you have made that call, and let us know how you get on

Snaf · 15/04/2007 22:13

Now, as a midwife-in-training, I could choose to take offence at being called 'medical'....

(Sorry to hijack, nikie. Please let us know how things are.)

lulumama · 15/04/2007 22:13

sorry snaf, woman centred care giver??

Snaf · 15/04/2007 22:18

That's better (I think?)

lulumama · 15/04/2007 22:19

[ grin]

Snaf · 15/04/2007 22:20

Hehehe - right back atcha, SuperDoula

DimpledThighs · 15/04/2007 22:24

nikie have you called the ward yet - this is very important. I would call them or go to a&e - as lulu and snaf say these could be the first signs of pre-eclampsia and if it is it is vital that you get treatment asap.

DimpledThighs · 15/04/2007 22:42

I am hoping you not replying means you are not on mumsnet and elsewhere.

I will think of you tonight.

Snaf · 16/04/2007 08:10
