I'd change my name but I seriously can't be bothered - so then, discharge during pg? I've heard people say 'no one tells you about discharge in pregnancy' and indeed, no one has! This is my second and I vaguely remember discharge from my first but not quite like this. (TMI alert) I'm only 12 weeks but have had this from the beginning, it's yellowish (but sometimes more opaque than others) but doesn't smell at all, sometimes there is loads but others hardly anything. Is this normal?

Hi

I am due to have my baby next week and all the way through this pregnancy I have had the same discharge as you describe. It was the same with my first pregnancy too.

It is perfectly normal. It varies from woman to woman too some have this and others dont.

Just remember to make sure there are no changes in it with regards to colour or if it does begin to smell.

Hope this has put your mind at rest.

By the way nothing is TMI for us girls on the april thread lol

Hi Honor - I will tell my embarrassing story!!

I suffered from day one and eventually GP sent me to day maternity ward for swabs to be done (so could get results the same day). I was there for about four hours and the midwife (who had the loudest voice in the world!!!) sorry don't worry love you are just suffering from EXCESSIVE discharge just keep it clean and dry!!!

The ladies on the other beds shrunk into their beds out of enbarrassment for me....

It did clear up straight after having DS thankkfully!!!

HonorMatopoeia · 14/04/2007 21:28

Think i'll mention it to my dr when i go for my check next week. Better to check I suppose. As long as it's not anything to panic about!

Megglevache - that's interesting because I'm craving dairy like it's going out of fashion at the moment. Could explain a lot.

Oh my goodness, I feel your pain HM!!!!!!

Thank goodness I'm not the only one! Phew! I have always used pantyliners even when I haven't got an AF, just for feeling fresh etc. While being pg, I've found it gives me an idea of what is going on in my knickers iyswim. Have had a discharge all the way through with this one so have kept an eye on it but was beginning to wonder if it was every going to go away. Now at least I know I'm not a freak!

Co-incidentally, I've had thrush this last week too and I've been having a tendency to eat lots of cheese (cathedral city) and I've been drinking lots of milk. I might lay off it for a few days and see if it helps - thank you!

Eaglebird · 15/04/2007 16:29

Sometimes mine is stretchy, like egg white, but creamy in colour. Sometimes it's clear. Sometimes it's white & runny, like cleansing lotion. All in the space of one day.
Is this normal too??
You're right, no-one tells you about this.

HonorMatopoeia · 15/04/2007 19:37

I can vouch for the egg white one if that's any help! I think we've found a niche in the pregnancy ,market- leaflets that tell it like it is- discharge and all!!

OP posts:
Eaglebird · 16/04/2007 17:13

What a good idea about the leaflets. They should be distributed to all teenagers at school. I bet it would make the teenage pregnancy rate drop.

embarrassedtoask · 16/04/2007 19:54

If it's any help Always do extra large panty liners which I found very useful but very during pg!!
