Low lying placenta

Hi

I had 20wk scan yesterday and everything great with baby ☺️ and got the most amazing scan pics.

I’ve to get another scan in January as I have a low lying placenta. Just wondering who else had this and did it sort itself out? Ultra-sounder didn’t seem worried at all however after reading the leaflet she gave me away it can cause quite a lot of problems if it doesn’t move...

I had this, two bleeds at 21/22 weeks that required me to be hospitalised for observation. Signed off work for 8 weeks to rest.

No further bleeds and ds delivered safe and well at 39+5 by emcs (nothing to do with placenta, it had moved up by 32 weeks).

I'd keep a small overnight bag packed just in case and if any bleeding go straight in. I was well looked after, was stupidly anxious because of it all, but physically both DS and I were fine throughout!

Hi all.. so im 33 weeks tomorrow.. had a scan on tuesday and have grade 4 major placenta previa.. my consultant was rubbish.. had to go and keep asking the questions to her boss.. its apparantly 7cm over.. and i even had to tell her there is a possibility my section would be under general.. she had no clue..
rescan at 36 weeks.. but im so worried about bleeding.. with it as grade 4 it seems so rare i have noone to talk to :(

That sounds tough. Can you go and see your midwife or GP? They might be able to get you in with a different consultant. It's really positive that you've got to 33 weeks without a bleed.

Yes I did and mine moved

You have to think of your uterus as a balloon. A deflated balloon with a dot on the bottom near where you blow it up.

When you blow the balloon up the dot will move up with the inflating balloon (your uterus). This is the case for most people

Good luck x
